I wouldn't have made it through this as a middle schooler because I did not do well with scary stories! I enjoyed this story & thought it was sufficiently unsettling to thrill middle schoolers. I liked the representation of Native American culture and legends throughout, and enjoyed the inclusion of Latinx and Hispanic traditions and legends in the second book (except when Dia de los Muertos was described as Mexico's Halloween). #ScaryStory

It‘s Halloween! Rob Zombie is coming over to get ready to party with me! Marilyn Manson helped us carve pumpkins, and now Michael Meyers and I are going to put them on the porch. We are full after eating candy corn and are ready to go now! Jamie Lee Curtis told us to watch out for the house down the street because it is scary with spider webs and broken windows. It‘s the house where Jason & Freddy live! Happy Halloween to everyone from Chucky!

Skygoddess1 I love Phantoms, it‘s probably my favorite book by Dean Koontz, try to reread every couple of years. Whatever you do, don‘t watch the movie, so does not live up to the book. Wish Nickelodeon or a streaming network would reboot Are You Afraid of the Dark 6y

KathyWheeler @Whimsical.Curiosity Twilight Eyes was set in a circus and was well told. From the Corner of His Eye has a hero who had the same eye cancer my daughter had as a baby and it has the best Koontz villain. 6y

KathyWheeler @Whimsical.Curiosity My daughter is great now. She lost vision in her left eye, all but her peripheral vision, but she‘s good otherwise. I still feel that my friends who read the book before I did should have told me about that character‘s cancer though, instead of letting me encounter it with no preparation. It was still relatively new for me and my daughter back when the book came out. 6y
