My husband and I lost our almost 15 year old #percycat last November (remaining guy from a bonded pair) and we‘d been without cats for way too long. A quick and unusual read that was surreal at times. The writing was very compelling, as was the relationship between Agnes and Fabienne. I probably missed a lot of the symbolism but will be digging into reviews on this book to try and understand it a bit better - definitely a lot going on under the surface. It wouldn‘t be my pick for #TOB23 but I‘m glad the tournament brought it my way.

A quiet, introspective novel with a LOT going on between the lines. All about the traumas of our past and how we choose to share these with our loved ones (or not). Beautifully written and translated from the Norwegian. I‘m very happy to have gotten this in my Strand subscription box as I never would have come across it otherwise. It would make an amazing movie.

Serious disappointment from my Strand fiction subscription. I got halfway through and realized I was skimming and had to just put it down. The narrative is disjointed and the dialogue alarmingly stilted and unrealistic. Surprising since the author is apparently a published poet. I held off reading it for a long time because of the bad reviews, and now I see why. #percycat

I loved this with the heat of a thousand suns. Or a thousand monsters. Why is everything Novik writes so excellent?!

Long time no post and I miss Litsy! Have had so much going on with work and ailing cats (here‘s the relatively healthier one, #percycat). I just finished this meandering, bizarre novel and have no idea what to say about it. I didn‘t love it but didn‘t hate it? The writing is very good but the story pretty much feels like I imagine being on psychedelics is. None of it made any real sense to me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

A very quiet novel; I‘m not sure how I really feel about it. I‘ve been mixed on Lahiri in the past but this feels like a big departure for her, which makes sense given the translation element. While I really liked a lot of the observations and the writing, the tone kept me at a distance. This felt more experimental vs fully realized. #camptob #catsoflitsy

I loved this. It was funny and warm and just so entertaining. The ending unexpectedly brought me to tears. #percycat approves 🐱

Still going on this one. It says “one” but I‘m on part 5, 423 pages in! Must finish this weekend! And keep #percycat 🐱 in your thoughts, he‘s doing great today but has had some major health issues the last couple weeks. Costing us a fortune but we‘re close to a treatment plan, at least. #catsoflitsy
