This month was dedicated to slow pace, character driven with dysfunctional family novels. Most of them by Irish authors which suggest that I like that writing style. I liked this novel. One of the #Women‘s fiction prizelonglist novels. This is about Cushla and her forbidden relationship with Michael Agnew a barrister. About how much harm religious prejudices can make and how dangerous can be to defend the injustice. ⬇️

Gissy Sad but with a transcendence ending. What the judges will evaluate? Interesting to see the short list. 4⭐️

Second book in this trilogy. A little bit slow but again, it has absurd unrealistic funny situations. Ready for book 3 next month. Finlay and Vero are a peculiar dynamic amateur sleuth duo☺️Again, I laughed out loud with this one.

I think most of you know the premise of this story. Finlay is talking with her editor about her novel and someone heard words like contract, kill him, payment, and thought they were talking about a hitperson and now wants to hire Finlay. This is an absurd, unrealistic contemporary adult cozy mystery for me. So funny. I was laughing on all the time. It was good after all my busy month and after serious books. This is for laugh. Don‘t expect more ⬇️

mabell It does sound fun! 2y

I read 3 books during #MarvellousMarch #Readathon this is the first one. No exactly the best mystery but I still enjoyed it. I liked the way characters were part of Houston‘s novel including him. I really liked that dynamic. Sergeant DeMarco, not necessarily an honest one officer. A family of 4 members were found brutally murdered and the husband is the prime suspect. The ending was not the best either but I want to read the second book. 3.8⭐️

Gissy This book has mixed reviews but it worked for me.

Girl in the Blue Coat | Monica Hesse

Inspired in true facts that happened to Jewish infants during WWII in Amsterdam. Hanneke thought was surviving the war in the best way she could but she will learn that there are other terrible trues. Then, she will try to accomplish a promise, she will look for the girl in the blue coat. A fast pace read that goes from past to present. Hanneke sometimes is impulsive in her decisions putting in danger others. I like the writing style. 4⭐️

Gissy My heart is broken every time I read about WWII or about any other war. But how there are still persons that believe that the Holocaust was not true? How? How one person controlled others to commit all those atrocities? It was terrible and I like to read how was the situation in different countries. We can‘t allow anything similar to happen, just kill persons because they are from different race, culture, or because any other reason. 3y

I really enjoyed this novel but besides the mystery, I was fascinated with the history behind the story: how women were treated in India during this period of time and that main character was inspired by Cornelia Sorabaji‘s life. This edition has an interview with author, a glossary, information about Parsi, about Cornelia Sorabaji & even some recipes. It also mention some references. The audiobook help me to know how to pronounce some words.3.85⭐️

If you liked/enjoyed Big Little Lies, I think you may like this one.A lot of drama, secrets, mystery of some events but everything is connected among these neighbors at Pine Rode. Some funny parts other absurd. Some twists, I didn‘t see some of them coming. Fast read. I really needed something like that after my intense last book☺️The end could be controversial but there is an interview with author at the end of the book explaining this end. 3.5⭐️

Midnight Library | Matt Haig

“Between life & death there is a library” Second chance story to evaluate your life & consider other possible decisions that could have different outcomes in your life (the road not taken). Sadness & happiness go together. Based on quantum theory. Acute depression was well described. Loved the philosophical quotes mentioned. Sarcastic tone is present which I love. Some parts were ok/repetitive but in general I really loved this story.3.9 ⭐️⬇️
