Under the Udala Trees | Chinelo Okparanta

A bittersweet look at coming of age as a lesbian woman in a country where homosexuals face the risk of imprisonment or being murdered by mob violence. Okparanta does a good job of showing the inner lives and communal relationships of those who shape Ijeoma‘s life.

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I really liked this book! I actually liked her short story collection even better! 4y

Here‘s my selection for #Acrossapril‘s dark intentions prompt. There are some fairly dark intentions behind the creation of and actions perpetuated by the utopian City No.6. #dystopian #manga #lgbtq #lgbtcharacter @Eggs

I didn‘t read the description before diving in, so I didn‘t expect the levels of teen angst, innovation, grief, and trauma in this book. This was the kind of book I couldn‘t listen to with my husband because of the overlaps with his own trauma. Great read. #grief #trauma #lgbtcharacter #foodtruck #lgbtbook

It might be because Daisy is my favorite character, but I really enjoyed this issue. What do we do when one of our big life journey ends and we have to start the next one whether we‘re ready or not? #collegelife #comic #lgbtq #lgbtcharacter

This book was as fun as the others in The Trials of Apollo. I still like other series in this world a bit better, but it's still an enjoyable read. #fantasy #mythology #greekmythology #romanmythology #lgbtcharacter

I never really experienced "teen drama" myself, and still don't really experience "drama". Even so, I enjoyed this book about a teen riddled with angst and self-loathing on a journey that wasn't supposed to be about (but we all knew it would be about) self-discovery. I loved the ending. It was also fun to hear the author narrate. #queerbook #lgbtq #lgbtcharacter #lgbt #drag #selfdiscovery #teendrama

Finished this today, just in time for the last book to come out! As was the case with the others, I really enjoyed this book. A few things seemed dramatically drawn out, but it was still fun. #ghost #psychic #magic #lgbtq #lgbtcharacter #queerbook #racism #americanhistory #1920s

This book takes a look at some of the pain experienced by the #lgbtq community. Don't go into this book looking for a feel-good ending. #queerbook #lgbtcharacter #queercomic #mentalhealth
