A brutal, honest book. Well written. Those books you can't put down. Empathy building real story.
A bittersweet look at coming of age as a lesbian woman in a country where homosexuals face the risk of imprisonment or being murdered by mob violence. Okparanta does a good job of showing the inner lives and communal relationships of those who shape Ijeoma‘s life.

I enjoyed this read. It was fun to see the characters grow and observe one another's growth. I had a few spots where I didn't quite believe either the story itself or the characters' actions. #lgbt #lgbtq #queerbook #lgbtbook #lgbtliterature #battletactics #secreridentity #lgbtcharacter
I enjoyed this read. It was an interesting look at the weight we give to labels, especially when it seems that that label is the only socially interesting thing people think about you. #lgbt #queerbook #lgbtliterature #lgbtq #lgbtcharacter
I enjoyed this second book more than the first. Without the competition to the death trope, the characters were able to come into themselves better, and the story was more engaging. #lgbt #lgbtq #genderfluid #lgbtfantasy #lgbtliterature #queerbook #queerfantasy #lgbtcharacter
Overall, not a bad read. This was an interesting exploration of grief and identity, as well as a look at racism. #magic #spirit #grief #lgbt #lgbtq #queerbook #lgbtliterature #lgbtcharacter
This was a well written and interesting book. I was excited to find a fantasy work with agender fluid protagonist. The protagonist's fluidity felt really well written and characterized as well. I don't love the kill-your-competetors-one-will-live trope, but it was well executed. #fantasy #lgbt #lgbtliterature #queerbook #queerfantasy #lgbtcharacter #genderfluid #competitiontothedeath
I enjoyed this read quite a bit. It was cute. The unlikeliness of their whole adventure was entertaining and didn't make it feel unrealistic. I also enjoyed how everything turned out, it felt reasonable. #lgbt #lgbtliterature #romance #lgbtcharacter #queerbook #scavengerhunt

These are some of my favorite books that I read this year. I'd say that The Prince and the Dressmaker might be my favorite even of these. #2019inbooks #2019 #yearinbooks #lgbt #lgbtq #lgbtliterature #collage #bookcollage
