I listen to this #audiobook twice. #Insightful and #motivational. Motivational book for those who wants to pursue art , may be writing, photography , dance etc. The significance of reading is highlighted in first few chapters. It also emphasises the responsibility of the parents in development of kid‘s reading interest.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa If you ever get a chance to look through this one in a bookstore or library, take the time...his drawings are really good too. 4y
Blackink_WhitePaper @Riveted_Reader_Melissa thank you 😊 I will definitely check this out 😀 4y

If you can tolerate the cursing and flat-out comments to the reader, this is a masterful, funny & dark collection of stories by an award-winning brilliant observer of the New South. Hannah had been compared to Faulkner, and one can see why. #shortstories #insightful #dark #funny #AmericanSouth

I really enjoyed this - I learned what a WH speechwriter really does, and there were a great number of Obama anecdotes. They weren't sugar-coated but still made me nostalgic for the times when our POTUS actually cared deeply about the effect his words and actions had on the world, on people. Litt has a great story to tell, and the audio was 👍🏼

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was written in a very easy way to understand some very complex perspectives. I learned a lot about Buddhism and it was a quick read! This was exactly what I was looking for. Plus, the author was a Buddhist for 15+ years! #insightfullearning #insightful

This book comes up under a different title than the copy I have. But I'm sure it's still full of #insightful things. #yesvember27

CAnne I love the cover. 7y

We check this book out from the library every Thanksgiving, but this year we decided to buy it.

I want my kids to know the story of Thanksgiving from the perspective of a Native American, which is exactly what Joseph Bruchac gives us.

Squanto‘s story is fascinating, and it‘s important for us to know how he was sold into slavery, and yet he chose to work toward peace for the sake of his people.

Libby1 Wow. What an amazing story. Thanks for sharing this. 7y
abbylibrarian Maybe worth noting that this book is on American Indians in Children‘s Lit‘s books to avoid list: https://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/2014/11/oyates-list-of... (edited) 7y
BookInMyHands @abbylibrarian I follow Debbie Reese‘s blog, but this one I would like to know more about the concerns, which I don‘t see on her website. Bruchac is Native American, as is his wife who helped research the book. 7y

abbylibrarian @BookInMyHands Yeah, I haven‘t read it so I don‘t know. When we were looking at our Thanksgiving books at our library with an eye to providing actual information rather than myths we basically discovered we‘d have to weed almost our entire collection. 😬 7y
BookInMyHands @abbylibrarian Oh yeah, our collection was awful too. Something that I like that we‘ve done is our Awards Shelf. We have Coretta Scott King, Pura Belpre, American Indian Children‘s Book Award, Asian Pacific Children‘s Book Award, Schneider Family Book Award, + the usual Caldecott, etc. I use it as a starting place for people who are looking for diverse reads. 7y
abbylibrarian @BookInMyHands LOVE that! Great idea! 7y

#YESvember17

I read this book as part of my research for my Roaring Twenties stories and turned out to be one of my favourite.

The 20s was a time when African Americans advanced in many fields, which is a story to know in itself. But what about African American women?
It turned out their circimtances were very different from men's and their own advancement had to face the opposing force of supporting their men's advancement.
An #insightful read.

youneverarrived Sounds interesting! 7y
Lindy It‘s a great title; and now I‘ve got Ma Rainey‘s voice singing those words in my head. 🎹😀 7y

I've pretty much lost track of all photo challeges (not that I participate all that much in them), but today's #yesvember17 prompt from @Libby1 was fairly easy. I'm finding this book very #insightful and it has sparked a good discussion between my conservative husband and my liberal self. 😊

DivineDiana This looks interesting to a fellow liberal with a conservative husband. 😉 I just have such a difficult time remaining calm during any political discussions! 🙁 Stacked! 7y
Sace @DivineDiana @EchoLogical I could quote this whole book. I'm hoping I can get my husband to read it. He's so disillusioned with the Right. Of course, I'm practically reading it to him now. "Omigosh, listen to this, honey" ? 7y
