I spent most of my time as a #longtimefed more or less in the realm of soft power. It‘s another topic I can‘t possibly do justice to in 451 characters, except to say I know whereof I speak when it comes to this area.

Pulling direct aid from the developing world, especially in the cruel and abrupt way we did so, opens up a huge space for China to swoop in. But we “need Ukraine‘s minerals” to combat China.

Then we humiliate Zelenskyy in the WH.*

Susanita * I‘m sorry for putting this picture onto your feed. 2w
Tamra It‘s shameful and short sighted. 2w
dabbe @Susanita No need to be sorry at all. I value your opinion and am here to listen. 👊🏻❣️👊🏻 I give long-distance hugs, too. 🤗 2w

dabbe Beyond shameful and disgraceful. This #ldf is evil. #ranttime 2w
BarbaraBB This was so shameful. Who‘s being disrespectful? I am furious 2w
Cuilin I am 😡!!!! 2w
DogMomIrene I‘m so ashamed to be an American right now. And I‘m terrified that 🍑 is going to lead us right into WWIII, but with an eye on those TV ratings🙄🤬 2w
Aims42 But yeah, women are too emotional to be president. Ugh. I hate it here. 😡 2w
ReadingVampire I am a U.S. Veteran, and let me tell you—I don‘t recognize this country anymore. I also work for the federal government, helping Veterans, and the cuts they‘re trying to make are insane. Beyond gross. Today is just another disaster with Zelenskyy. 😡😡😡 2w
AlaMich It was a set-up. You know trump has just been waiting for a chance to throw someone out of the WH and show what a real man looks like. 2w
Susanita @AlaMich Yes. I‘ve seen that suggestion from Jay Kuo and others online. Meanwhile JD was sitting off to the side with an insipid grin on his face. 2w
Susanita @dabbe @AlaMich @Aims42 @ReadingVampire @Tamra @BarbaraBB @DogMomIrene @Cuilin I was out this afternoon (not shopping!) and on my way home I crossed over a major highway. There were people on both sides of the overpass holding signs and Ukrainian flags. I waved heartily. 2w
Aims42 @Susanita 🙌 Yay! I hope people were honking and laying on their horns too 💙🇺🇦💛 2w
ncsufoxes Zelenskyy is the one that showed the strength. He remained calm in a room full of bullies. Petty Patty & Bertha the Bully are the ones that looked like fools. They‘ll of course spin it. It‘s just astounding that he has made it clear who he stands with & the GOP will fall in line. It‘s like an alternative universe right now. 2w
ncsufoxes I should add no offense to anyone named Patty or Bertha. I just need to find alternative names besides swear words in our house. I feel like I want to vomit any time I use their actual names or hear their voices. 2w
dabbe @Susanita #allthefeels 💙🇺🇦💛 2w
Susanita @Aims42 from Bluesky (New York Times pitchbot): Volodymyr Zelensky's Oval Office visit ended early when Donald Trump and JD Vance began angrily yelling at him. Here's why women like Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton are too emotional to be president. 2w
Aims42 @Susanita 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Nobody can make this make sense 2w
Susanita @ncsufoxes faux news was spinning it almost immediately 2w
marleed It‘s as wrong as anything I could expect from this administration 😢 2w

I was influenced into buying the TikTok bookshelf. I love it! I‘m thankful my husband helped me (read: did it himself) put it together because it was complex. Thinking about getting another….its so nice that it doesn‘t have to go against a wall.

vlwelser And where does someone purchase this lovely tiktok bookshelf? 1mo
TiredLibrarian Love this! ❤️ 1mo
Ruthiella You provided much needed emotional support during the building process, I am sure! 😂 1mo
LMJenkins @vlwelser - if you are on TikTok, you could probably just search “rotating bookshelf” and find it! (edited) 1mo

A long, quite involved audiobook about the state of immigration in the United States by way of Mexico and elsewhere in Central America. Blitzer goes back to cover a history of immigration, including policies and the political climate around the topic, and continues into the present day. He profiles individuals to humanize the topics of deportation, detention, and even parent-child separation at the border. ..to be continued in 2025 😱

ncsufoxes I have the physical copy of this book. I‘ve been slowly reading it. It‘s heartbreaking, it‘s even worse to know that US policy has created so many of these scenarios 4mo

This was really interesting. A Marine Corps legend I first heard about in boot camp, and why I read it. I was curious as soon as I heard of it. He really breaks down the how and why of so many things this country & our military do & how they are flawed. He also gives his plan of how things can be done better. Being written after only the 1st World War and before nuclear weapons, some of the ideas are dated. Not to say some wouldn't still work tho.

This 500 page book is engaging, encompassing, and complex. Spanning 40 years, multiple countries, people, policies, methods of torture, and hope, this follows a few people living through immigration, deportation and escape. It‘s an incredible read- and expertly gives context to a complex multi-national issue. Exceptional.

Bookwormjillk This sounds fabulous. Just put a hold on it at my library. 5mo
Suet624 Oohhhh, thanks for the recommendation. Might not have picked it up otherwise. 5mo

#two4tuesday

1. I have 3 possible options: (a) Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe; (b) Well That Didn‘t Go As Planned; or (c) Traveling Purposefully in a Vague Direction

2. I‘m not sure how I‘d define a life “well-lived” but Madeline Albright has certainly had an interesting life.
