During the rapid and accelerated unraveling of our democracy, it is doubly important to read these "boring" stories of the actual American heroes who really did make our country great before the racists and the oligarchs and their cheering sycophants truly understood the ease and effectiveness of demonizing our greatest and most authentic public servants. This won't be one of the first books banned, but it will eventually be added to the list.

We do not care who you are. Why do you sue everyone in sight for saying (true) things about you that you don‘t like? For a book that was published a YEAR AGO and obviously (unfortunately) did not harm your last “quest,” or we wouldn‘t be in the mess we are today. And for $15 billion? #getoveryourself #ranttime #wdncw

ncsufoxes I had to go back & check the publication dates to understand why he‘s suing a year after the book was released. My guess is now he‘s prez & thinks he can sue everyone & they‘ll bow down. Or the SC will find things in his favor. He of course filed in FL, which he hopes to get a judge that is sympathetic to him. Someone said the brief filed was laughable. I avoid reading things about him but I just might have to buy the paperback copy. 2mo
lil1inblue He doesn't give a fig about the book. He's trying to scare news outlets into silence. It's a fear and control tactic. 2mo
dabbe Everything about this man is beyond despicable. And I despise him for tainting our lives with his mere presence. 🤬 2mo
AnnCrystal I agree with @lil1inblue, even the New York Times is getting sued... 2mo

Short book about some of the inner workings of the American government. TIL that the dept of commerce does not actually have anything to do with business. 😆

From the blurb on the back cover I thought this was about trump‘s handling of covid, and it was, but it was about a lot more than that. Other the prologue, covid wasn‘t mentioned again until 210 pages in. Still, it was interesting for the most part.

I recently subscribed to SK‘s Substack, and it turns out I have a few gift subscriptions. It‘s a one-month subscription. Anyone interested? I have five to offer, so I‘ll set a deadline of noon tomorrow (1200 CT on 30 May). If more than five people are interested I‘ll do a drawing. Simply comment below if you‘re interested, and I‘ll let you know if you‘re a winner! Feel free to repost, but only comments on this post will count.

I finished this on audio and…holy crap, Sarah Kendzior is so spot-on about everything. Her predictions from Trump‘s first term have all come true, everything she was worried about has come to pass. We should call her Cassandra. I need to find everything she‘s ever written now, and you need to read this book! I subscribed to her Substack a few months ago, and I just upgraded to paid when I finished this. Seriously, read it.
