Sunday morning book and breakfast

This is the essay I‘m the most intrigued to read, but I also expect to be frustrated by wanting more. After reading several of Tolkien‘s incomplete works, I know kind of what to expect. This includes commentary about Tolkien‘s nearly indecipherable notes and just enough detail to make you want to know more when it‘s impossible.

Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy, #1) | Robin Hobb

#BookandBreakfast of banana pancakes & bacon on this fine snow day! I read the first chapter of Assassin's Apprentice before bed last night and it very well be my favorite first chapter I've ever read. I got immediately sucked in and I cannot wait to read more about Fitz.

The Fall of Arthur | J.R.R. Tolkien

Happy Sunday! My goal this week is to read a canto daily, but I‘m not sure I‘ll manage it consistently. Whether or not I get to post during the week, I‘m happy to be back to some Sunday mornings with Tolkien. I don‘t consider myself much of a poetry fan, but I love this alliterative style of narrative poem. The language is beautiful.

JazzFeathers You know? I was a fan of Arthurian legends before l was a Tolkien fan. When l was a teenager, l read both sours materials and many retellings. Yet, it's been a long time. It'll be fun to read something that gets these two passions of mine together 😊 2w

BarbaraJean I treated myself to the Centenary edition this year and am so glad I did! I loved the illustrations last year but they're even better in this larger edition. And I'm loving all the commentary that the North Polar Bear adds along the way!! 2mo

David Copperfield | Charles Dickens

Happy Saturday morning! I‘m starting a quiet Saturday morning with breakfast casserole and coffee while I catch up on the last few chapters of David Copperfield for October.

I have lots of things to work on at home today since I‘ve been gone the last few weekends, but I plan to listen to lots of audio and fit in some print reading for the Dewey‘s Readathon as well.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, Sir Orfeo | J. R. R. Tolkien

I finished rereading Sir Orfeo this morning with breakfast. I enjoyed this poem and as before I noted some similarities to the story of Aragorn as a king returning to his land as a man out of the wild and unrecognized.

Daisey @wordslinger42 Hopefully early in October since we‘re already past when we planned to have this one done. Sarah and I are both busy so keeping up and coming up with a new schedule has been a bit of a challenge. 5mo
