I‘ve been looking forward to the release of this memoir for ages. Oliver Darkshire applied for what he thought would be a year-long apprenticeship in rare bookselling at Sotheran‘s (one of the oldest bookshops in the world) but he somehow never left.

I follow him on Twitter and he‘s quirky and hilarious.

Archaeology books—Amelia Peabody of course, Michener‘s The Source which was what everyone read in the 80s/90s before coming, Agatha Christie‘s stand alones set in the Middle East, Lives in Ruins which is a more recent NF look at the lives of archaeologist (& an interesting read). 5y

Camp Austen: My Life as an Accidental Jane Austen Superfan | Ted Scheinman

My breakfast/brunch with two good friends, one visiting from Seattle, turned into shopping, the farmers market, coffee & a snack & more visiting & then home to do chores & take a too brief nap. Saturday went by too fast but it was worth it. Going to try to stay awake & read tonight & eat 🍿for dinner. This is my book haul for the week--bottom 4 are library holds ( I blamed the tagged book on @LeahBergen 😉) & top 3 are #bookmail #ARCs for review.

For my birthday this year I decided to treat myself to some bookish things I wouldn't normally buy. I'm a newer subscriber to Slightly Foxed (#blameitonLeahBergen) and they have such lovely and unique books that I purchased whatever I wanted, guilt-free.
