A House in Flanders
A House in Flanders | Michael Jenkins
1 post
In 1951 a fouteen-year-old boy was sent to spend the summer with his aunts in Flanders, a household consisting of elderly ladies who had previously been connected (in a way that was never fully explained to him) with his own family. Within a day he had been embraced by the house and within weeks he was irrevocably entwined with a family that had taken him to their hearts. As he explored this new world and made it his own, the days ran together in a seamless web that seemed to stand still.

A few weeks ago I went to Las Vegas to celebrate @BookBr 's birthday. I surprised her with a trip to the amazingly quirky Writer's Block bookstore in downtown Las Vegas. From the warm and welcoming owners, to the secret passage to the printing press room to the Adoption Agency for Artificial Birds, this bookstore begs for a trip back.

(And meet Ted, my new work companion. I adopted him after learning he likes to quote Edgar Allen Poe poetry.)

Theresa I've never had a desire to go to Vegas before, but now I do!! 😍 8y
Gleefulreader @Bibliogeekery it was a definite highlight of our trip! @Theresa we basically did everything *except* gambling. We spent an amazing day out at the Hoover Dam and then Red Rocks park. There's actually a lot to do that isn't the casinos. 8y
