Went to the book sale my local library was having last week. It was the last day, so it was fill a bag for $5. Yes, I really enjoy reading about history.
I remember going to book sales at the local library growing up. Always enjoyed it, since I was able to get alot of books to read.
pickBeautiful writing despite the sparse sentences with few commas or demonstrative pronouns. But that had a firm purpose-it was the way that Ash spoke. She leaves her husband to manage the farm while she goes off to fight with Union soldiers in the Civil War. Hard to put down with an ending that may surprise you.

Started in March. Continued in April. Bailed in May. I have loved other books by this author, but March is too dour and dry.
OTOH I bailed on Thursday Murder Club and will also bail on this follow-up. I‘ll still go to book club, though, because it‘s the last meeting until September.
I finished the Pandian and read a bit of Emma, so I‘ve been reading The Lola Quartet and liking it so far.

pickThe first half of the book is really about the Civil War in Missouri, but that history of division and its creation of the bushwhackers is what led to James' life of crime. The author does an incredible job unpacking the story. I loved learning the story behind his eventual crime spree. This was my Missouri nonfiction book and it's perfect for the category. I'll certainly be reading more from this author as well.
