#90sInJuly #day5 #AliensExist Anne McCaffrey is one of my all time favourite writers, her Pern series, The Ship Who Sang, Doon & this one, The Tower & The Hive series which starts with The Rowan, are some of the best SciFi ever written. The aliens in this series are the destructive Hivers, bug-like aliens, hell bent on wiping out other species so they can colonize planets, & the friendly Mrdini, who ally with humans against the Hivers.

This is my all-time favorite alien book, followed by "Speaker for the Dead." Such a beautifully woven story of humanity, love and religion.

pickI picked up this book to break into the sci-fi genre and I found this book delightful! The story was engaging and many times I laughed out loud! The only thing I had trouble with was my own personal world-building. It took me a little longer to create the pictures of the unearthly characters and settings (which might be why it's hard for me to read sci-fi 😂)!
