I would totally stay in a Hitchcock themed hotel so I was excited for this book! I was hoping this would have been a little more creepy but mostly it was just drama between old college roommates. What made this a pick was there were a few good twists that I did not see coming. I was hoping there would have been a Norman Bates like shower scene 🔪 but no luck! 😛

I loved this book. Alfred buys an old Victorian manor and turns it into the Hitchcock Hotel and invites his estranged college friends for the weekend. He has plans, and they all have secrets 🖤

I mean how could you miss with this idea? You have all the wonderful Hitchcock thrillers for inspiration. And yet this is one hell of a miss. Six of the most awful “friends” arrive at a Hitchcock themed hotel for a weekend each with secrets so banal I couldn‘t care less about what happened to any of them. Tried way too hard (clumsily btw) clinging to the coattails of a genius filmmaker and his genius wife and fails miserably.

I really like the Hitchcock theme and references in this one, but the characters were rather unlikeable. I always enjoy her writing though!

@AshRob22 thank you for this perfect #AllHallowsReadSwap package. I love the stuffing out of every last bit of it. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to hide all the treats I got today from my husband and kids lol.

And many many thanks to @MaleficentBookDragon for organizing this swap again this year. I always look forward to it and am grateful you take the time and effort into wrangling all of us into order lol

I had so much fun with this read! I loved all the Easter eggs, and the writing had just enough Hitchock feel, mixed with a modern take to make it feel fresh.

I did the audio version, and the narrator did an excellent job.

One of my favorite mystery/spooky reads this month.

2.5⭐
I was going to give up on Stephanie Wrobel after how much I hated “This Might Hurt” but that damn cover wouldn‘t let me. Why can‘t books live up to their covers? The biggest reason this book didn‘t click with me is that I‘m not a big Hitchcock fan, and this book references his work a lot. But, if you are a fan of Hitchcock, you might enjoy this book more than I did. The narration by Michael Crouch, Gail Shalen, & Helen Lloyd was good.

A Hitchcock fanatic with an agenda invites old friends for a weekend stay at his secluded themed hotel in this fiendishly clever, suspenseful new novel. To celebrate the hotel‘s first anniversary, he invites his former best friends from his college Film Club for a reunion. He hasn‘t spoken to any of them in sixteen years.

EadieB The group of characters of old friends are found to be not too popular. There isn't one old friend that I could really care about. I was looking forward to reading about some of the films that Hitchcock wrote. I found this book to be missing the important things that I was interested in. 2mo
EadieB I found this book to be a bit tame for a Hitchcockian mystery and the ending was a little weak. So all in all, I was a bit disappointed in this book. I look forward to reading another book by this author in order to compare her writing to this book. 2mo

MrT That‘s that book off my TBR. Doesn‘t sound great not when having very little references to all those famous films and classic scenes. 2mo
