Novice: The Black Magician Trilogy Book 2 | 
pickThis was a total contrast to the first book, I couldn't put it down! I was so absorbed in the progression of the main character as she learned to use her gift. The bullying did frustrate me as I think the bullies should have had a less easy time getting away with things for so long but I suppose the anger I felt just made the book more engaging. I liked the aspect of Sonea and her mentor's son so I was disappointed that didn't work out.
pickI liked the first book but the second one was even better. It actually included some turns I didn't expect and I felt the characters got more complex. At the same time I missed a character from the first book and felt some of the behaviours of a few characters were over the top.
Absolutely love it in books, when the main female lead shows how strong she is!!

bailedThis just isn't cutting it right now. I've got loads of books on my tbr pile that are far more exciting. There's some intrigue but it's not captivating and it's a little slow. I might come back to it at some point though.

so-soHmmm... the story is still interesting, but it felt like it was dragging on a bit. I also felt like Dannyl's part of the story created too much of a departure from Sonea's storyline and every time I had to switch gears, so to speak, which pulled me out of the story.
I will finish reading the trilogy, but I think this volume could have been shortened by about 1/4 and still made sense. Very nice world building though!

YES! We came back to the hospital for the weekly blood draw and they had set aside my book for me, so I have it back!!! It would have been such a pity, especially because I bought the whole trilogy so book three is waiting patiently on my shelf 😊
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, so after a brief pause, on to book 2 I go! 😃
