My Book Outlet haul has arrived! I think I was very restrained. Now I'm going to try not to buy books until after the summer solstice book exchange bonanza. We'll see if that lasts. 😬

Fun day at the #sabookfest. So far I've restrained myself from buying books but found a bunch of things to add to my #tbr. #anthropology
A solid 3.5. Would have been better if there were a little bit more about the things we have learned about the lives of the fossils. Not just what made them famous and relatable to the average person.
After Lincoln in the Bardo and The Road. I needed something a little more optimistic and less emotional:)
This took me longer to read than I had planned, but not because of any lagging in the book. My life is just busy at the moment. Such is this season of motherhood. It's an excellent book!
Stopped by the book fair at my kids school to work on some PTA stuff and the librarian put this cute bookmark off to the side for me. It's perfect!
Making some progress on the book while wearing my favorite bookish pjs. I made them from flannel and they're so soft and faded. I really wish I bought more of this print!
It's a chilly morning at the bus stop! We're sitting in the car waiting for the bus and I'm squeezing reading in anyway I can.
Not feeling too hot today so I'm relying on my standby of; bed, coffee and a good book to make me feel better.
My house is a wreck, dinner needs to be cooked and the boys need to get ready for Boy Scouts, but I just want to curl up on the couch and read. Darn adult responsibilities.
I love that this 6 year old boy still loves to curl up and hold my hand while I read 💗
Got out and early to vote and now I'm waiting to pick my kindergartener up. Such a good book so far.
Finally getting back into this after a looooong week of PTA meetings and birthdays. So far, it's an excellent read!
I'm stoked. Our library just got this in and I'm the first one to check it out. Super excited to start reading!
If you have an interest in the history of humanity you can't go past this book. It'll help fill in gaps, lay solid groundwork for further reading, and maybe get you interested in fossils. I found it fairly easy to read (despite not being a science minded person) and I learned a lot about a topic I've had a small interest in for a while. I had some issues with the writing (repetitiveness in particular), but it was still super interesting.
Nothing like human fossils to make me happy.

I LOVE reading about ancient human fossils. I'm glad I read this, but some the writing was awkward. The focus on what makes a fossil famous seemed overwrought.
The best parts were when the author talked about how fossils get new life when discovered, and how they connect us back, millions of years ago. Also, the chapter on Lucy: she's right - I saw Lucy when she toured, and it was a moment of reverence. Took my breath away.

Sneaking in this ARC before its publication. I love a good book about extinct hominids.
An interesting and informative book on seven of the most famous human fossils. Comes with lots of pictures! At around 200 pages this book is accessible enough for even the most novice of armchair anthropologists. 💀💕
