Legend has it that wishes made at the standing stones during Christmas come true. As if. Maisie Barron is over it. A small-town girl with big dreams, her frustrations lead her to make a silly wish at the standing stones outside Loren Brae. Little does she know, the magick found there will transform her wish into a catastrophic event that threatens the upcoming Christmas Book Festival. Weston Smith needs a break. Burnt out from his tenure-track professorship, he decides that a holiday in little Loren Brae, Scotland, will be the perfect escape he needs to recharge his batteries. The last thing he expects is to find the woman he's been waiting his whole life for. With the over-zealous help of a gaggle of elderly book club members, West finds himself on a real-life mission to woo the woman of his dreams. There's more than magic at play when sparks ignite. Snowed in, with an undeniable attraction brewing, only West and Maisie can save Loren Brae from the snowstorm of the century. Author's note: a handsome American takes on a lonely Scotswoman in this stand-alone, small-town, Scottish romance. Wicked banter, a highland ghost coo, and dogs dressed in kilts make this magical Christmas story the perfect happily-ever-after.

#audiobook contemporary #Romance with a generous dash of magical realism: Ghost Coos, Brownies, Kelpies,...

West takes a break from his teaching job in sunny California and visits a small Scottish town at Christmas time. He soon falls for bookish and competitive Maisie, who might be up for a fling, because nothing longterm can happen between them.

Some 🌶️, lots of magic, the usual small town🎄tropes (snow, gingerbread houses, 🎄sweaters,...)

#unpopularopinion time. This gets one star for Clyde, the ghost coo and that‘s about it. I didn‘t enjoy the writing style as the supernatural elements were tossed in randomly, not woven neatly through the story. It was clunky and there was no real development to the relationship between the MCs. I‘m not a fan of insta-love, though, so YMMV.

I was gifted this audiobook from NetGalley and it was so cute and charming! Highly recommend if you love a Scottish accent/Outlander inspired Christmas romance!! Short & sweet! One of my favorite tropes: snowed in to a cozy cabin 🥰 4.5/5

This cute (slightly supernatural) Christmas romance follows an aspiring Scottish writer and an English professor on vacation from LA falling for each other. Also featuring: a goofy highland cow ghost, a brownie butler, and a Christmas wish for snow gone very wrong. I didn't love the insta-romance on West's side, but the relationship itself progressed a bit more slowly since Maisie was less sure at first. A cute, Scottish holiday romance.

ItsAnotherJen I was thinking of this for my next Christmas themed ebook read! There's quite a lot to choose from 11mo
rachelsbrittain @ItsAnotherJen it can be so hard to pick! This was a cute one though, so it'll be a nice read whenever you get to it 😊 11mo
