Trying to pick a book for this weekend. I need something light and distracting. Maybe You, Again or Silver & Gold.
Trying to pick a book for this weekend. I need something light and distracting. Maybe You, Again or Silver & Gold.
This was really cute. I liked the characters and the idea but I didn‘t think it was super unique. It‘s a story we have read and watched a million times. Will they won‘t they, friends to lovers and lots of back and forth build up to the end. It was fun. Light read, but nothing super different.
An entertaining enemies-to-lovers story, sort of an updated, edgy homage to rom-com When Harry Met Sally. When we first meet Ari and Josh, they are both less than appealing, both in disappointing places personally. It takes a little while to warm up to them, and them to each other. But they totally grew on me and it was fun to see the changes over the years and how they wind their way to a new place. It‘s funny, irreverent, and pretty steamy.
This was assigned for book club, and at first, I didn't think I was going to like it.
Ari was obnoxious, slutty, and making cringey decisions right and left.
But she was also snarky, funny, and endearing.
I had to see how she and Josh ended up together.
The author interview at the end was enlightening, and I loved that she had a section about all the NYC places in the story.
I ended up glad that I read this.
Maybe there‘s no such thing as soulmates. Maybe there are only people who trust each other enough to begin something without being assured of the end 🫶
The negative reviews almost put me off but I liked both of the MCs and felt invested in their story. A few things felt forced, like ticking boxes for particular tropes that hit with some readers, but overall enjoyed and would read this author again.

Since we don‘t get much seasonal change where I live, Fall with its leaves changing color & sweater weather is my favorite season to watch from afar. Fall in New York? Even better. This book is in my #BOTM TBR 🍂🍁🍂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a romcom with some bite! I actually really liked these prickly characters and felt like I was transported to New York City. The story felt fresh, real, modern, and actually funny. Romances can start to blend together for me, but this one stood out! #BOTM
In the picture is one of my Christmas gifts - “The Book Seat”! I love it even more than I thought I would! Very comfortable for hands-free reading 🥰
I understand peoples issues w/ the characters, Josh is arrogant, pessimistic & rigid, Ari is flighty, crass (this book is definitely sex positive) & there are plenty of lines & things she does where I was like CRINGE but I loved the NYC feel, loved the dialogue, I wanted them to be together AND Josh was obviously Adam Driver (the author wrote him really well too) and the spicy scene was 🔥 Also I‘m not embarrassed to admit I cried like 3 times
The years kept going and going and I didn‘t like the characters any more with each passing page. Ignoring “I‘m Jewish and I‘m here to make fish with muscles and chorizo,” bc sure. But it felt like I was reading scenes of things I liked (The Bear, Mindy Project) with people I really disliked 🙅🏻♀️ so not for me
We don't typically do craft shows, but the local Craftsman Guild asked us to do their holiday show this weekend, so we figured we'd give it a go. Before we opened this morning I was reading the tagged book. I looked across the room and made eye contact with a woman... who was reading the exact same book! 😂
Bonus photo of my partner acting silly. #S42D
Today is Pippin's got'cha day! He's been my constant reading buddy for six years! Tonight Tommy and I are giving him lots of cuddles while we read.

DNF at 10%. I don't need my characters to be endearing in all genres, but romance is definitely one of them. I gotta like or feel for at least one of the mains or I can't root for them. Not feeling it for either of these two.
I looked forward to this one after reading the story was inspired by the banter from When Harry Met Sally. The problem for me was I liked Sally from the onset of her story. Ari, uhhh, maybe I need to get to know my characters before I chuckle at their bawdy behavior.
The reviews of this one compared it with When Harry Met Sally and called it a fall, feel-good read. Man, that was not my experience 😕 I almost dnf'd this, but ended up finishing it. I did not care about either of the unlikeable MCs and did not believe the chemistry. It was a slog. The enemies-to-lovers trope is one of my favorites, but this one was so beleaguered, I just didn't care.
Ugh…both MCs are hella annoying (in different ways) and not at all interesting. Bailing a little over 100 pages in because life‘s too short!

The prompt #BootsAndLeaves for #AutumnPlease! made me think of the cover for this book. I haven't read it yet, but it looks good!

This book is a love letter to NYC. A bit of a chunkster and dialogue-heavy, I found myself flying through this, finishing it in 2 days. The characters started out a bit annoying but grew on me, and I ended up really liking this one. The author has a talent for writing great dialogue. And I couldn‘t pass up the shameful appeal to lovers of fall by that cover 😍🍁🍂. More than a pretty cover, this is one worth checking out! #BOTM
Having a wonderful fall mini-vacation in Northern Michigan. The weather is perfect, the trees are showing their colors, and lots of time to read. Really enjoying this one.
This was such a fun romcom!! It was great to take a break from thrillers! Josh and Ari are my new favorite couple! I love music and there were so many songs mentioned! I hope I got all of them! 🎼❤️🎶

Happy Caturday!! We are being lazy today! William is watching football, I‘m reading, Tux is sleeping, and Miss Priss is chilling outside 🐾🐈⬛😽
We hope you all are having a great day!!
This book is Tux approved! I love the sassy, extroverted female mc! Not my usual genre, but really enjoying it so far!

Starting this one today! LOVE the cover!! 🍂🍁
Anyone read this one? Loving Ari 💗 she is hilarious!
I‘ve been reading way to much thrillers and heavy stuff books (plus watching a lot of true crime) Taking a much needed break with ONLY romance this month. September Romance 🍂🍁🤎 #BOTM #Septemberromance
My BOTM pick. I love the fall background. 🍂🍁🎃
The cover of “You, Again” is SO gorgeous and gets me in the mood for fall!! I was able to get “Bright Young Women” for free since September is my birthday month! 😀 I‘ll definitely look for a few of the other picks on Libby. #BOTM
(I‘m not really excited about the plush toy gift for completing the reading challenge… but at least my toddler will probably like it!)
September #botm is here! I went with the romance. And it's my birthday month, so I got Bright Young Women as my free add-on. And I finished 15 BOTM books, so I got the stuffed dog head as a prize.
Witty and sharp, this will they or won‘t they, enemies to friends to . . . was a little infuriating and a little wonderful. I hung in there but it was touch and go-she was pretty crass and he was pretty awful that I nearly DNFed this one. I‘m glad I finished it, the pay off was worth it. Part of me wanted this to be more polished, but in the end, the messiness was part of its charm. Release date: 9/12/23 #ARC #netgalleygroup #BookspinBingo
Looking at the 3 "word search" clues from #BOTM (friends, chef, lovers) - I'm throwing this book out as my official guess. The description gives a nod to all of the words and it sounds really good! ???
I have seen a lot of comparisons between this book and the classic film "When Harry Met Sally" and I totally see the similarities. Both explore the idea of whether or not men and women can just be friends. However, Kate Goldbeck takes this idea and really runs with it in a fresh and contemporary way. Modern relationships and sexuality are explored in this book, and the dialogue is so snappy, reminiscent of Nora Ephron. Pub date 9/12/2023!
