This was sweet and fun. Loved the sibling relationship and loved the relationship between the main characters.

I almost forgot to post this! Last month I finally completed March #bookspin pick. Mckinlay is a favorite cozy mystery author so it was a no brainer to read this one. I enjoyed it but I especially loved that she brought attention to dyslexia and I applaud her having this book printed in a dyslexia friendly font. I learned a lot in this one.

Last family beach day of the summer. Enjoying my book while my sister is in the background searching for shells. Beautiful day of sun and fun and of course we had pizza after.

It‘s time for an end of summer palette cleanser that is a spicy, smoldering romance.Sam Gale,a dyslexic renowned chef & Ben Reynolds, bookish library Director an unlikely pair. Sam has returned to Martha‘s Vineyard to chaperone her barely known 14-year-old stepbrother while her parents are away.An endearing sub plot line is the development of Sam & her brothers new found relationship, authentic, touching, & humorous. Family roots is an enduring🔽

kspenmoll 🔼 theme but what is best about the book is the authors treatment of dyslexia. The book is published in a font & spacing that is dyslexic friendly. Sam‘s challenges with her neurodivergent brain is heartbreaking & at the same time, triumphant. Although I am not dyslexic, I have worked with students over the years who are and whose explanation of what is like for them sounds very similar to the experiences of Sam in this book. (edited) 3mo

Was a pretty good read. The story had a little twist with the male lead being the book lover and the female not so much (but she has dyslexia so it‘s understandable). Maybe a little long but overall a fun read with an interesting quest as well.

Samantha is staying in Martha's Vineyard for the summer to watch her half-brother while her dad and stepmom are out of town. She loves to cook, but doesn't like to read because she has dyslexia and reading is very difficult for her. She meets Ben, the interim library director, who loves books but doesn't like to cook.

Mad props to this author for writing this diversity positive book that it is visually accessible! No hyphenated words, dyslexia font/size/spacing choices...BAM! Super well done and should be a considered choice by more publishers. I also liked the fresh perspective of a male bookworm, that doesn't show up often in rom coms....

MaggieCarr ...Open door romance with good pacing, fighting neuordivergent tendencies together as a couple, a mystery with a hint of "oh no-what if" thrown in. Just fresh in many ways, I really enjoyed this book. 1y

Loved this! A perfect summer read. Samantha, an out-of-work dyslexic chef falls for Ben, a book-loving librarian. If you like opposites attract romance, this is a cute one. And it‘s pretty cool that it‘s printed in a neurodivergent-friendly font and design!

I liked this one a lot. A chef and a bookworm who is an interim library director meet what will happen? Sam is very self conscious about her dyslexia and she‘s worried that a bookworm like Ben will be repelled by her.

Book 44/100 of the year.

II won't go into further details because it will spoil the story however these characters are very moving in their own ways. Jenn McKinlay's story has many deeper issues that she brought to light in this book. I personally loved seeing characters who weren't the "normal" characters in a romance. Jenn's story had me laughing out loud. Jenn McKinlay, jumped at the opportunity to make this book so much more than a romance!
