Wow!! Just finished the audiobook which has an author interview at the end. I am so happy I finally decided to read this book. Highly recommend. It was fascinating. It made me cry. It made me think about how little time has really gone by from the years of slavery and it made me horrified that it went on a mere 100 years before my birth. I‘m still reading the physical copy bc I want to reinforce some stuff in my brain and write others down.

Interesting concept, of course. I saw the movie several years ago, and it was pretty good. The ending of this book really fizzled out for me. The narration style got really dry. It was also really gory, which I didn‘t particularly enjoy.

This book excellently weaves the true aspects of Lincoln‘s life with the fantasy elements of vampire hunting. The story follows his true timeline, but uses the idea of vampires and vampire hunters to explain why certain events took place.

This was a better week! I'm hoping to be able to get a lot of reading in for the last week of #Scarathlon2022

I loved this!
The pictures and the diary entries were such a nice and unique part of the story.
I hope I like Pride and Prejudice and zombies just as much.

During reading, I reviewed some of the historical events mentioned. It was a genius idea. Entertaining reading for my vampire mood at this time. Movie adaptation is far from the book idea. 3.5⭐️

I read this book a while back and this book is just what the title said. Our beloved president chased vampires. It was gentle gore and I totally enjoyed the visual images the author used. It came back to my memory as I am about to jump into another Seth Grahame-Smith book.

Decided to finally get round to reading this after having had it for years haha!

This book is everything! I urge you to pick up and read because, really, there are scenes that will leave you on edge.

The past month has been so busy, I‘ve been quite absent from Litsy. I had to make time to share this though as I am enjoying it far more than I thought I would! Such a fun story, love the historical detail, and a great narrator.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this, after letting it sit on my shelf for a few years because...well its vampires and I detest vampire lit. Happily, this book leans in on the alternate history aspect and the vampires are kept to a minimum. Also, when seen, the vampires are black eyed, blood-thirsty monsters, not pale pretty boys who sparkle in the sun or Lord Byronic fops in ruffled shirts. 4 💥💥💥💥 out of 5.

Taken for what they‘re worth, and not taken too seriously, this book, and it‘s movie adaption are actually really entertaining.

This is a historical fantasy novel w/ vampires & the Civil War. It should be a home run, but it reads like a very dry biography, and then we get to the sexism/racism.

Author completely erased Kate Warne from Baltimore plot against Lincoln. She uncovered the plot & saved Lincoln.

Also, it's apparently okay for vampires to eat slaves because they aren't really people, but when they become a stepping stone to eating whites, it's a problem.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book, but I'm already 60% done so I guess I'm finishing it...?

I've been plowing through books faster than I can update my Litsy. 😂

Alaways go to your local library. Went to donate some books and found a book swap. Got something for myself and the hubby. ❤️❤️

First audiobook. 🧛🏻‍♂️

I FINALLY FINISHED IT!!!

It‘s about as average as you can get. Writing is basic with journal entries and narrator sharing things, akin to biographies. Works occasionally but not consistently well. Slavery is used as a plot device that can be very uncomfortable & even offensive at times. The violence and gore was fun, but limited. The plot twists made me yawn. Reads much slower than expected. So...average as hell. 3/5.

Okay... last book was not a fit for me. Trying this one next. Recommended to me by Sir Betrothed, I‘m going to hope this one is much better.

It‘s a fantasy horror novel that is pretty much the journals of Lincoln‘s vampire hunting shenanigans.

I listened to this as an audiobook. I was not particularly impressed with the narrator and I found the mood music to be distracting. The author seemed concerned with having as much historical detail as possible and I believe he succeeded. When I listened to the details of Lincoln‘s assassination it gave me cold shivers. I found the quality of the writing was in stark contrast to the poor quality of the production. I give this 3 stars. 👇

Then again, maybe not. Turns out I can‘t sleep when I have a migraine. But I can listen to my audiobook of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter! Back to #LitsyPartyOfOne.

I am forging ahead with this audiobook, which I checked out of the library using Libby. Parts of it are slow going and I am not impressed with the narrator, Scott Holst. The interlude music is distracting and does not add to the flow of the book. But I have heard that the sequel is better, so I want to finish this. Only 1:37:08 remains; I can DO this.

It‘s nearly 5 AM here and I haven‘t slept all night, not for want of trying. I‘ve been listening to this book all night but that‘s not why I haven‘t slept. I‘m past the halfway mark now and it‘s finally getting interesting. The discussions of politics and slavery, the Dred Scott decision, so many other incidents, have made it very contemporary, all of a sudden. Who knew we would still be arguing about the issue of race in the 21st-century?

Still listening to this book. I have insomnia and I was hoping it would put me to sleep because it‘s a little on the slow side. But I‘m going to plug along and get through this since I‘m at the halfway mark. I want to find out what vampires had to do with the War Between the States and Lincoln‘s assassination. Curiosity has the better of me. Besides, there‘s a sequel that sounds like it‘s going to be more interesting than the first.

I‘ve been reading this now for over three hours and have nearly eight hours to go. I haven‘t decided yet what I think of the book but I do know I don‘t like music added to the narration. The musical interludes do not add to the narration but detract from it. Music seems to come in the most annoying places. And I, a music major, think it should‘ve been dispensed with.

Woke up at about 3:30 AM And couldn‘t go back to sleep. Played on Litsy for a while. Now I am listening to the tagged book on Libby while cross stitching Mom‘s Christmas present. Not sure how I feel about the book yet since I just started it.
