I‘m one prompt shy of completing #Booked2023 ☺️I can‘t find an #AfroFuturism book that I like! Any suggestions?!??!
I did read Binti a few years back and it was ok, so maybe I should try another by Nnedi Okorafor? Thanks

Cinfhen Don‘t forget third quarter drawing is coming up! 1y

Magpiegem I‘m in the same position- I haven‘t finished reading all my books yet but I have ones earmarked for everything but that prompt so definitely following this! Xx 1y

TrishB I had this one on my list, didn‘t read in the end as found another one. But it‘s short so may be a good choice! 1y
LeeRHarry I‘m waiting for the graphic novel of Black Panther to come in at the library - it sounded like fun 😊 (edited) 1y
Cinfhen Ohhhh, that DOES sound PROMISING @LeeRHarry @Magpiegem and I have stacked The Deep @TrishB so that‘s another good option ☺️ 1y
IndoorDame I‘ve loved everything by Rivers Solomon I‘ve read so far!!! 1y
BarbaraBB You could read Octavia Butler if you haven‘t already. I‘m at loss too. 1y
Cinfhen I did like Kindred but I‘m not anxious to read more by her @BarbaraBB I‘m able to borrow both the Solomon and Black Panther so I think I‘ll try those @IndoorDame (edited) 1y
Cinfhen @IndoorDame good to know ☺️thanks 1y
BarbaraBB I read some more by her but not tempted another one either. Lots of inspiration above though! 1y
LaraReads I read Okorafor‘s Remote Control a few years back. Totally not a normal read for me, but I enjoyed it. And it‘s super short, but still had great worldbuilding I thought. 1y
JamieArc I have this marked for me. The cover is gorgeous. 1y
Bookzombie I‘m probably going to read N.K Jemisin‘s second book of The Broken Earth trilogy or an Okorafor. Whichever I get to first. Lol. 1y
Cinfhen I tried the first book @Bookzombie and bailed so I don‘t think I‘m ready for book two 😉but both of your suggestions sound hopeful @LaraReads @JamieArc - thanks so much for sharing xxx 1y
Larkken @TrishB I loved The Deep and was really fascinated following up on all the previous versions (mostly music) that led up to it! Highly recommended. 1y
Larkken @Bookzombie I have a hard time with the Broken Earth trilogy, just can‘t get into them and don‘t know why. I liked her short story collection though. It was good on audio. 1y
Cinfhen Ohhh, I forgot about that short story collection @Larkken thanks for the reminder 😁 1y
Cinfhen Lots of GREAT options @Magpiegem @BarbaraBB 1y
Bookzombie @Larkken I really liked the first one so I hope that continues, but I understand. 🙂 1y
Bookzombie @Cinfhen I thought you had read the first one but couldn‘t remember if you liked it. 🙂 1y
TrishB @Larkken it‘s one of those that will probably be read at some point in the future! 1y
Megabooks I read this GN on hoopla when it was on pop sugar 1y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards I just found this free Africanfuturism short story collection while prepping my world lit class, if you want some other options: https://brittlepaper.com/2020/10/free-download-of-africanfuturism-an-anthology-s... 1y
Cinfhen Oh wow!!! Thanks SO MUCH @SaunteringVaguelyDownwards !!!!! Perfect 🤩 1y
Megabooks I think I‘m going to end up using this author a month title. 1y
Cinfhen I took your advice and found the GN Parable of the Sower on Hoopla @Megabooks 1y
Megabooks Yes! I love a good GN adaptation, and I love that they‘re easily accessible on hoopla too! 1y

QUESTION does anyone else include children's books in their have read list? It was mentioned on a fb group as cheating to include books you read to your kids. Is it? 😬🤔 @Cupcake12 @BethM @Butterfinger @Roary47 and everyone else who reads with children. Please and thank you 🤗 #question #kidsbooks #bookrules #readbooks

Bookwormjillk I do if I really like it. People who want to call others cheaters are kind of buzz kills in my opinion. It‘s a reading list not filing taxes for goodness sakes. 3y
dragondrool Of course I do. If it's a book, and I read it, it's fair game. For the record, I don't read to children. If I pick up a children's book, I'm more than likely reading it for me. Usually, the illustrations grab me. At our middle school library, we don't call the picture books, shelved with an E on the spine label, “Easy“ books. They're “Everybody“ books. 3y
IndoorDame I always do. I started recording them because I wanted to remember certain ones to read to my students the following year, but half the time I‘m reading them for myself and now I just recorded all of them. 3y

Roary47 I don‘t include them in my yearly book count, but I do give reviews for other parents or people looking to gift books for kids. I only really do it for ones I like, but want to do for all one day. 3y
hannah-leeloo Thank you @Roary47 @IndoorDame @dragondrool and @Bookwormjillk I love reading kids books too especially when in a slump or need cheering up. Thank you, there was quite an ordeal about it in the fb group so I'm glad I have Litsy for friendly reassurance 🤗 3y
Butterfinger If it is for a challenge I do. I do count my MG/YA books, maybe not picture books. Although, I am going to be posting a bunch of reviews for picture books later today for #BBRC. 3y
BethM I was told to count them on here for games etc. 3y
Cupcake12 Reading is reading….it is better to read something then nothing. I‘ve read so many childrens books with the girls growing up! 📖😍 3y
