What happens AFTER the evil overlord is defeated? FT Lukens answers this question with a sweet and funny romcom of a book, featuring probably all the tropes in the world. A couple of slightly problematic spots, but mostly just a silly romp in a fantasy land where true love is all that really matters. Were the MCs oblivious to the point of insanity? Yes. Did I enjoy it anyway? Yes. Great palette cleanser of a book!

There is a forced to marry your soulmate under a time crunch, best friends that love each other but are both idiots and some find family. It's a cute read.

I did not like that Arek deceiving and drugging his best friends was glossed over because of the find your soul mate or die trope.

The questing hero has slain the Vile One and freed the land. Now what?

It took me a while to readjust my ideas and get into this book because the blurb describes it as “Carry On meets Arthurian legend“. Much as I'd love to see Carry On Round the Table, the blurb writer has obviously never seen a Carry On film nor do they have any knowledge of Arthurian legend. On its own terms, it is a pleasant enough mindless piece of fluff.

Such a cute YA rom-com story about a hero who saves the Kingdom but he must find a soul mate before their 18th birthday or die. Hilarity grows throught as the reader clearly sees who the hero is in love with, even if they don't see it themselves.

Quick and predictable but overall enjoyable read—a low pick.

The MC is frustratingly oblivious (which isn't unexpected in this kind of book), but it's the love interest I have a problem with. I'm sure it wasn't the author's intention, but he came off—at least to me—as a selfish asshole, and I couldn't shake off that impression till the very end. Sad circumstances don't excuse him.

Funny and relaxing, though, so—a pick.

Such a silly idiots-in-love adventure exploring what happens after the final battle. Arek has fulfilled a prophecy to defeat the evil ruler but he's accidentally got himself stuck as the new king and has to find a spouse by his birthday. While pining for his best friend, he tries wooing the rest of his quest companions, hoping someone might show interest. This was a fun play on classic RPG roles & romance tropes, set in a super queer fantasy world

This mark is almost pure perfection for this 📖But instead of a Princess, we get a prince

The 👺 has been slain. Arek (against his wishes) agrees to be🤴for an hr or so, as they free the rightful heir. But his 1 hr gig becomes indefinite when they realize the Princess is☠️Since he accepted the👑, Arek entered a magical contract. “Til death do us part” w/ some extra requirements like, finding a 💕 . Pitched as a fantasy romcom, it 💯 delivered

I liked the world of this one, especially how queer-normal it was, but I don't love fantasies that use modern slang. That's a very subjective beef, I know! #yafantasy

This ended up being really cute! It was entirely built off the whole miscommunication trope but it was somehow still charming. I think it also touched on many after the prophecy is fulfilled problems like how does one run a kingdom where fear has ruled for many years? And PTSD. But it was also very character focused and all of them were fun and adorable, 4/5 #magic #queer #bisexual #gay #lgbtq #trans and possibly more

Another title I thought I had on Netgalley but I misremembered 😂 maybe I should make a list so I know which to read 🤔 but it is one I've been meaning to read. It's alright but a bit too...idk sarcastic and even a bit try hard? I was hoping for something a bit more serious, but we'll see how it develops

I thoroughly enjoyed this magical rom com, even though the plot was so. very. predictable. I enjoyed the great characters and the banter and the premise of a band of twenty-somethings unexpectedly ruling a kingdom. Very fun! Read about half while outside with these hooligans. 😎

I like seeing some of their character development even after they finished their quest. It shows that no matter if you are going through something hard or just everyday life trying to find yourself, you can always grow as a person.

The only time I got a bit annoyed was when the MC did questionable things to find his soul bond, instead of just talking to his friends and having open communication with them.

This is what happens after the Chosen One defeats the villain. It was a sweet story, but nothing new or unique.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are so young and quirky, it made me giggle at how oblivious they were. Arek is a great King, but is complete unaware of it. It's a cute read if you're looking for something LGTBQ+.

Ok, so I didn't bail on Lore, it's just that I'm so much more excited for this one. My hubby came home from work last night and asked if I wanted to go to the bookstore, as if I would ever say no. I went thinking I'd grab The Daughter Of The Pirate King, but they didn't have it. I think it was @hannah-leeloo that had posted about getting this one a few weeks back. I've been wanting it since. Started it last night and very happy so far!

#gaymay Lots of queer rep that is just integrated into the story. Parts were funny and it had a good ending but mostly I found it boring. I listened to the audio and read ebook. I liked the author‘s pirate story and I really wanted to like this one more than I actually did. 😢

This was kind of in between a pick & so-so for me. The plot was incredibly predictable & the chosen one's attitude could be a bit much.
Arek, the chosen one has his magic sword, has killed the evil king & taken his throne. Now he needs to soulbond to someone before he turns 18 or he fades away literally.

On the one hand I am a massive sap, sniffling after a great ending…. On the other, I love a good Merlin-Arthur fanfic! Especially a successfully published one!

So This is Ever After is the story of what happens after you finish your adventure and defeat the big bad villain - or in this case an evil ruler who you beheaded.

I loved this slow burn trope of best friends to romance plot and the humor added in. There was plenty of action, side romance and lots of different LGBTQIA+ rep including bisexual, polyamorous, non-binary, and lesbian.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
