I was a little worried that book 2 would disappoint, but it did not! I raced through this one too. On to the next one!

On to the 2nd book 📕! I love this series so far! 🩵

It's very much giving me Clueless fall in love with your stepbrother who also happens to be Paul Rudd vibes....
Also, did anyone else remember who the hell Mellie was in that wacko ending? Yah, I didn't think so....
Pretty good follow up to the first book. It took me ages to finish while taking my mom to her many appointments but I finally finished. So many twists and turns I didn't see coming
Book two was another romp through puzzles, mysteries, and secrets! These are such fun, fast reads that I tore through book two in a few hours. Now on to The Final Gambit!
#seriesread2022 While I‘m over here trying to figure out if I‘m team Greyson or team Jameson, our FMC Avery is finally getting answers about who she is and all of the secrets surrounding her birth. Book 2 did not disappoint and I can‘t wait to get into book 3 as it‘s getting harder to tell who Avery‘s enemies and allies are.

I‘ll be reading fewer mysteries/thrillers this month since they‘ll be my focus in October.
🌟🌟🌟3 out of 5 - Book 2 of The Inheritance Games - This book was good - not as great as book 1. It felt like it didn‘t get really good towards the end of the book. Still it was full of great imagery and the great characters from book one. The mysteries and puzzles are still alive and well. I have one question though ??? Grayson or Jameson? 🫣
Not quite as engaging as the first book in the series but still a twisty, fast-paced read. IMO the love triangle bogged things down, there weren‘t many puzzles/riddles to decipher, and unlike The Inheritance Games there wasn‘t a clear mystery to be solved — just lots of intertwined secrets to be revealed. That said, I‘m sure I‘ll devour the 3rd book when it comes out in a few months. JLB knows how to write a page turner! #ya #teachersoflitsy
Finished three books. WHOO!! Defy the Night was an original book that‘s for sure. I would have liked to see a little more badass MC and a little less crying. Really enjoyed it though! 4⭐️. The Hawthorn Legacy was a great addition to the Inheritance Games series. Love the plot twists every other page. 5⭐️. And finally, The final book in the scythe series. Really enjoyed it but wish there was more romance. 4⭐️.
More puzzles and clues, confusing family tree, love triangle (?). Although the story dragged, it is quite fun :)
January top picks!
I read 30 books this month and these were my favorites.

Here are the physical books I have that I have yet to read. They will now become part of the #readmyroom challenge to help me whittle down my mountainous TBR list. 10 of these books were purchased new while the others are thrift finds. I tend to donate about half my physical books after reading so getting through these will help open up space on my bookshelves .... for new books 😉

Even better than the first book. Can‘t wait for the 3rd to come out this summer.
Barnes has done it again! Another smart, twisty, addictive mystery that I found impossible to put down! In this 2nd book, our plucky heroine finds herself drawn deeper into the mystery of why a billionaire chose her to inherit his fortune & the question of parentage comes into play. The riddles, the clues, & the seemingly impossible trail of breadcrumbs all lead the MC to confront the uncomfortable secrets from her past & truths about her present.
Book 2 in a fun YA trilogy. Avery inherited billions from a complete stranger in book 1. In this book she continues to unravel the Hawthorne family's myriad secrets.
My husband's grandparents gave me a gift card for my birthday so obviously I had to buy books. 😍
