Yet another awesome Pete the Cat book. In this one, Pete goes to school and stays brave because he‘s rocking in his school shoes. I really want to read all of these, my kid loves them.

Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes is an MF book by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. This story is about Pete's first day of school and his love for his school shoes. Through the different settings, Pete signs about how he is rocking his school shoes. The author also uses the character and different setting to convey confidence and not worry about going to new places such as...... #UCFLAE3414SP21

StephanyNunez the cafeteria, playground, and more.It shows the students not to be scare to go to the new places at school, just like Pete. Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes is great for read-aloud(RA) because it can be used to model fluency and expression. For this story, I recommend using UDL principle 5.3(Build fluency with gradual levels of support for practice performances.)The UDL connects with RA because the teacher must model fluency and expression. 4y
StephanyNunez Furthermore, the website below is an example of a Read aloud and can be used to show different kinds of reading expression and practice for students of fluency and expression https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCkdSB1TptU. EL strategy 17 (Provide contextual support through audiovisuals, models, demonstrations, relia, body language, and facial expression). #UCFLAE3414SP21 4y

This MF story is about Pete the Cat who is singing his way around school in his Rockin shoes. This book would be ideal for a read aloud. #UCFLAE3414SP21  https://www.readingrockets.org/strategies/rhyming_games UDL 3.2 is seen in the resource as it is highlighting patterns and rhymes. For the EL strategy we are focusing on 15 which emphasizes repetition.

DrSpalding 10 books noted on time! Be sure to expand a bit on your summaries of the stories and on the resources that align with the UDL and EL strategies. Good start. 4y

*um, all of them? Ballet, tennis, and marching band. And in 10th grade I was a Jet Girl in West Side Story

*We were the Townies.

wanderinglynn The Townies? That‘s an interesting mascot. Thanks for playing! 😀 6y
bookishkai @wanderinglynn Yeah, interesting is the right word. I think it comes from when my town used to be part of Massachusetts and kids from a neighboring town went to my high school. But it‘s kind of infectious, like Townie Pride is actually a thing and even though I hated high school there‘s still a nostalgia for Friday night football games (see: marching band). (edited) 6y
djh I‘m a huge Pete fan! I retired from teaching (Reading Specialist) 2 yrs ago and couldn‘t wait to introduce kids to each of Pete‘s books. Now, I get to read them with my granddaughter. 6y
bookishkai @djh I was an ECE teacher and then a nanny for pretty much all of my professional life until I became disabled by a stroke last year. My last two sets of nanny kids *loved* Pete! There‘s nothing cuter than a toddler reading Four Groovy Buttons to herself: “Pete cry? Oodness no, button come and button go.” 6y
djh Hope your recovery is going well. I had to retire due to Crohn‘s and Lupus. Take care. 6y

This is a F book that could be a RA or S. Pete goes to school and sings his song about his shoes which seems to keep him confident throughout his busy and stressful day at school. #UCFLAE3414F17

LaurenR ESOL Strategies: #21-record your lectures, presentations, or stories on audiotape, especially for new students who have very limited exposure to English. #2-promote cooperation. UDL Principles: #1.2-offer alternatives for auditory information. #7.3-minimize threats and distractions. 7y
KayleeC This is such a fun book to read with students! I worked at a preschool over the summer and my students loved to sing along with me! I like how the website gives you activities to do before, during, and after reading. 7y

Mariachen The entire Pete the Cat series is amazing! I love that they incorporate music and numbers. Making books well rounded is a great way to get children to lean on books for all subjects! 8y

I was cleaning Man Cub's room and moving the furniture so I decided to "steal" a couple of his toys and add them to the bookshelf.

My favorite #booksetinaschool is Pete the Cat. This book fell apart this year from all the reading so I had to order a new copy. I like that #bookproblem #booktober #teachersoflitsy

My new kinders start Monday and we will be rocking in our school shoes! I'm addicted to Erin Condren planners and stationary - so cute #booksandstationary #bookphotochallenge

BekahB I've been wavering on whether I want to buy one of those planners next year. I'd have to show some self control because I could easily spend my entire paycheck on sticker kits! I love watching the planning videos on YouTube though 😄 8y
Lauren_reading @BekahB I have the teacher planner and have no control. I have a friend that makes the stickers so I get some deals 😀 8y

real life obligations are preventing me from participating in #24in48 this weekend, but it's fun cheering everyone else on! summer vacation is over for this teacher...we report back to work on Monday. today I've been working on some Pete The Cat decor for my room. the Pete in the picture will go on my classroom door, I think.

Reviewsbylola Monday is entirely too early. I can't believe the end of summer is in sight. 8y
shanebeth @Reviewsbylola our kids won't start til Aug. 1, but teachers have a week of in-service/work days leading up to the 1st day. 😔 8y
