You would like being friends with Leo. He likes to draw, he makes delicious snacks, and most people can't even see him. Because Leo is also a ghost. When a new family moves into his home and Leo's efforts to welcome them are misunderstood, Leo decides it is time to leave and see the world. That is how he meets Jane, a kid with a tremendous imagination and an open position for a worthy knight. That is how Leo and Jane become friends. And that is when their adventures begin. This charming tale of friendshipfrom two of the best young minds in picture books: the author of the Caldecott Honorwinning Extra Yarn and the illustrator of the Bologna Ragazzi Awardwinning Josephineis destined to become a modern classic that will delight readers for years to come.

“Leo: A Ghost Story” is a sweet story of a ghost pretending to be an imaginary friend so that a child will play with him. Ghostly, simple collages evoke the visual style of “The Snowy Day.” Perfect story time read for pre-K and K. #kidlit #ghosts #haunting #Scarathlon #TeamWhoYaGonnaCall #picturebooks

FlynnDewey Awww, I read that to Wes last year. Got some nice points out of it then, too. 1y

Sweet, but a little sad and not that compelling. A ghost looking for friends meets a girl who thinks he‘s one of her imaginary friends. Should he tell her the truth or will that scare her away? #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #Spookoween2022 @TheSpineView #31by31 @Catsandbooks #PointsAThon @dieareader @GHABI4ROSES

#Haunted Day 14: Leo, the friendly #ghost, was driven from his old home when a new family moved in and misunderstood his warm intentions of welcoming them with “mint tea and honey toast.” This is a charming and light-hearted story about accepting supernatural encounters for what they are. Getting some quick reads in for #Scarathlon2021 and #TeamHendrix - my fave of these was Leo: a ghost story which was very Casper-esque and cute. +91 points - will track readathon points at end of week.

Very cute book with wonderful shades of blue. I think the blues are extremely important because the book is not meant to be very vibrant - after all, he is a ghost and is lonely for most of the story. The colors lightened up when he makes a friend, Jane, which I noticed right away.

“Leo saw the city and the people who lived there. Nobody saw Leo.” He was lonely and wanted a friend.

I would use this book in my classroom to teach the value of friendship and accepting people for who they are. The ghost found happiness when he was loved by someone for who he was.

This story was written by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Christian Robinson. It was published by Jacket Illustrations in 2015. It is a story about a ghost who lived through life without being seen. He is friendly but lonely. Finally, a young girl sees him and plays with him. She wasn‘t afraid of him and she accepted him for who he was. It is truly a story about friendship.

Love this part of the story! Something Leo was so afraid to tell his friend ended up being no big deal because she loved Leo for who he was!!

This book is a super cute story about friendship! The fact that Leo was hiding his true identity of being a ghost to his new friend, meant he really cared for her and wanted to keep that friendship. Yet even though she thought he was at first her imaginary friend, she didn‘t care one bit that he was a ghost. In fact she loved him more!

Published in 2015 and illustrated by Christian Robinson, this picture book strikes me because of the illustrations only including the color blue. The different shades create detail and value, but it was interesting as to why this author chose blue for every image. I think to understand this book the illustrations are essential! Without the images I don‘t think children would understand the story and the meaning behind the plot.

4⭐️ This was a cute ghost story. Leo is chased out of his home by the new owners and goes to see the world. A lot has changed since he last left the house. On his walk about he meets a young girl who quickly becomes his friend. But Leo is no imaginary friend, but rather a ghost who helps save the day. This is an intriguing story, and the all blue illustrations give it a vibe both fun and unusual.

I HATE libraries that do this. The funny part is I see it most at University Libraries with Education programs. These books come from the special collections for students to use writing lesson plans and doing student teaching. These university libraries should KNOW how important book covers are to kids. And yet they still remove them. Uggggghhhhhh

If I hadn't tagged this book u wouldn't know what it was.

tonyahoswalt Sort of similar thought - I don't like it when the book jacket is removed just because the hardcover has the same artwork on it. In the instances I'm describing, the summary is on the book jacket and not the book cover. This happens a lot on children's and YA nonfiction. I say we need the summary, but I'm overruled because they don't want to put mylar on the book jacket. 7y
LibrarianRyan @tonyahoswalt I get that. I do find it annoying as well. 7y
