Cozied up for the evening 🫖🕯📚 I'm really enjoying this read! The only thing that could make it better is if it were fall 🍁
This was a long, somewhat discouraging, week. I'll be hiding beneath this stack of books for the weekend
❤📚❤
A adventures retelling of Beauty and the Beast , I enjoyed it
This is the second book I've read in years (was in a major reading slump) and is was AMAZING! Gave me all the feels that reminded me why I love to read and fall in love with characters so much! Brigid Kemmerer did a fabulous job twisting Beauty and the Beast into a unique original story of it's own. I can't wait to find out what's instore next for Harper, Rhen, Grey, and the rest of Emberfall.
A Beauty & the Beast retelling that was soo good! The author created this world and kingdom that shows how everyone was affected by the curse. The setting was my favorite part but I also loved every single character…especially our strong and resilient FMC. This is part of a trilogy so I‘m super excited to dive back into this world in book 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars! #serieslove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
I liked this much better than the last Beauty and the Beast retelling I read, and I agree with everyone else who thinks that Grey is the most interesting character!
This finished out #JumpStart2023 for a total of 9 books - one short of my goal, but not a bad showing!
I was gifted this in #fffs &I‘m very glad bc I probably would have debated reading this one for 100 years.
A very sweet take on a tale as old as time.FMC is spunky, but not obnoxiously so.The world is fully formed without getting bogged down in details. perspectives switch between Harper &Prince Rhen so we get to see the motivations &growth.Nothing super unique, but it got my serotonin flowing.
Def seeking out book 2 when my book buying ban ends.
Literally read this in a day! Kept my attention! Definitely recommend it!

A solid beauty and the beast retelling.

This has been on my TBR forever…glad I finally read it! I‘m not a big fantasy girl but I enjoyed this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I liked the two MCs, Harper and Rhen, but I mostly enjoyed the secondary characters Grey and Zo. I‘m also not much of a series girl but I really want to know what happens with Grey!

A Curse so Dark and Lonely is a retelling of the famous Beauty and the Beast, following teenager Harper Lacy. The first sentence/line was amazing: “There is blood under my fingernails. I wonder how many of my people I've killed this time.“ Then, there were so many decisions that I was screaming at, which kept me hooked the entire time. In case I can't say character names, the villain is one of my favorite characters apart from Rhen, Z*, and Fr***.

This was my last read for Feb. I thought it was an interesting way to explore the Beauty and the Beast story. It is YA, so some of the typical tropes are present, but they aren't used so heavily that it distracted me from the story or the characters.
I will probably continue with the trilogy to see how it all plays out.

a re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast
the heroine is the only interesting character in this book. this version was different with unique magical aspects, kind of, and I liked it for awhile and then it kind of dragged out and I‘m not all that intrigued with the plot layout for book 2 soooo I‘m undecided if I‘ll finish the series, which I guess is a review in and of itself
Wow! I haven‘t read a fantasy that I enjoyed this much in a long time! Not a perfect book but beautifully written, fast paced, set in a fascinating world with characters you can‘t help but root for-what‘s not to love? Will definitely read the next in the series. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
My pick for #2ndBookof2021 was A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. Again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! #12Booksof2021
What an amazing #hauntedhollowswap package of goodies @Mommamanzi !! Thank you so much for all the books, sour gummies (my fave) and all the other treats! The candles smell amazing and I can‘t wait to start this coloring book. Wonderful swap package, and Happy Halloween! 👻🖤🎃🧡 @wanderinglynn
This didn't work for me. I found it longer than it needed to be and rather boring. I enjoyed the heroine but no one else stood out to me. This didn't have the magical feel that I normally get from a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I likely won't be continuing this series as reviews seem to say this was the best book of the trilogy. I am a sucker for a pretty cover though.
My #BookSpin complete! It‘s a pretty low pick right now. I guess I just didn‘t like it as much as I thought I would. It might grow on me if I pick up book 2. I did like that the mc had cerebral palsy. Overall I liked it! #bookspinbingo

Thank you @Kaylamburson I love everything and I am sorry but I sadly did not wrap anything of yours but I did use cute tissue paper. But I love the wrapping paper you used. The other book looks interesting and I love that lemonade I was getting low on mine. The stickers are so cute. And I love the sunglasses thank you again for everything. @Catsandbooks #sliceofsummerswap

If you enjoy retelling or fairy tales then I suggest you read A Curse So Dark and Lonely. The first book in the series and the best I thought.
This was a highly enjoyable Dark YA Fantasy. It is a beauty and the beast retelling and had excellent world building. Though long it was a very easy read (yay YA). This would a great read for someone who wants to dip their toes into fantasy. Also my second #bookspinbingo for June! 4.5⭐️
To be honest I found the first half of the book felt slow to me and I was losing interest. Then suddenly I was in love with the characters and had to keep reading. Besides the MCs my favorite was Zo she seemed like such a good friend to Harper. Without spoiling anything I'm definitely interested to see how the new secret unfolds in the next book. I definitely recommend giving this one a shot if you like retellings
“I am always surprised to discover that when the world seems darkest, there exists the greatest opportunity for light.”
I am obsessed with this retelling. It was so well done. I personally didn‘t feel like it was forced but felt like it was done so well that it didn‘t need to be forced, it was immediately captivating and i couldn‘t put it down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another book read for school, I was kind of surprised at how much I loved it! Beautiful storytelling and such realistic characters that I fell in love with them. Recommend.
It‘s so nice out, I decided to take the book outside!
An early post today! I had seen and heard a lot about this one and finally have a copy. I‘m hoping it‘s as good as so many have said!
I‘m trying to reacquaint myself with my TBR while on a book buying ban for the month.
