I was completely enthralled with this story. The characters were so alive. So much heartbreak, but it oddly didn‘t make me sad. A sorry about a life well lived.
The editing on the other hand…. Not great. #lmpbc
Read him two Halloween stories and then snuggled for quiet time. Just put him down- hoping he can breathe well enough to stay in his crib tonight- this mama needs a full night of sleep in a bed! Ears and sinuses as suspected.
This #lmpbc book has me enthralled! The snark, the humor, the strong women, the Harry potter reference!
Almost done with this one and will get it in the mail by Monday. #lmpbc #groupa @Bookwormjillk @BethM @Tattooedteacher
This isn‘t usually a book I would reach for, but I gave it a try and found it charming. I was truly sucked in by the halfway point and didn‘t want to put it down. It‘s a tad saccharine in places, though less so than I anticipated, and the copy editing is dreadful, but it was an enjoyable read.
I good story. I truly loved the writing, how the characters interacted and the two different time periods. This was an #LMPBC read.
Sitting in my favorite spot with this month‘s #LMPBC pick. Received last night @Bookwormjillk Thanks a bunch. I was eager to get started.
All the positive reviews are right. Great story.
WWII continues to provide tremendous ideas for compelling novels
Superb story. Flashback story from current to Pre WWII. You will enjoy the characters.

I was completely absorbed in this tale – it was so good! It‘s one of those that leaves you with such a bittersweet feeling at the end, because the story was so enjoyable, but you‘re heartbroken that it‘s come to an end.

According to the author this novel was inspired by Mary Ellis, one of the original “spitfire girls” who to piloted British planes during World War II.The historical aspect of this novel fascinated me as I knew nothing about these women. The backdrop of early World War II, it‘s effect on ordinary people‘s lives and on those in service capacities lends an authenticity to the novel.see link below. Making this a spoiler post in case anyone else does this subscription and hasn‘t finished yet. These are the gifts that came with my book. They really helped bring the book to life.
I actually finished it last night but was too tired to post. It was my first book box book and I loved the gifts (spoiler post to follow). Anyway, I don‘t read a lot of WWII books. I always like them when I read them but I have trouble making myself read them. This was inspired by a real spitfire girl and I was fascinated to read about Cornwall during the war.
Came home sick from work so now that I‘ve finished the other book, it‘s time to dive into my Once Upon A Book Club Book!
This book will make you cry, just a heads up. But good, fuzzy tears of happiness. This story covers the lives and great loves of two women from two different eras, bonded by a community.
My only complaint was this book had more typos/grammatical errors than normal. But it really didn't take away from the story.
