Set both during WWII & 10 years after, this is a story of survival & the complications of lingering guilt. I think that this would make for quite a discussion starter for book clubs- I know my own book club is drawn to WWII stories! Charlotte isn‘t always the most likable but the story that unfolds captures your interest and makes it easy to keep turning pages. Some of the romance feels a bit forced- but it‘s an engaging read from start to finish!
I enjoyed this but parts of it felt contrived and forced. I couldn‘t find a connection to the characters but the story was interesting, mostly the war parts.
I‘m torn with how to review this one. It had some really good parts but it honestly didn‘t keep my attention all of the way through. I loved the mother - daughter relationship between Charlotte and Vivi but this one just didn‘t get more than ⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.
Picked this one up bc the cover and title were interesting. The first few pages felt meh but once we start getting glimpses of Charlotte's past in occupied Paris, things got mysterious and suspenseful. Wasn't a fan of the end pair, felt the guy was too pushy and Charlotte too compliant but what can I do 🙄 Interesting story of how it wasn't just the Nazis that were a threat but our own countrymen. Typical feels to other #historicalfiction books
OK I'm really curious about this guy and his intentions, also maybe I'm swooning some but also dreading what happens after 😯😯 #historicalfiction #ww2 #france
Randomly started this audiobook after the nice cover haunted me for weeks 😆 It has a bit of a slow start and even though not much has happened, I'm enjoying it. It's told in different times, mainly the present interspersed with the past and I'm curious about *what* exactly happened to Charlotte #historicalfiction #ww2 #france
Review is up on my blog. Check it out. This one missed the mark. But the cover is wonderful. https://reecaspieces.com/2020/08/14/paris-never-leaves-you-by-ellen-feldman-stma...

Current situation is pretty nice!
I was easily I was drawn into this book and there was a lot I liked about it. The pages turned quickly and the struggles of people dealing with the choices they made I order to survive WWII was compelling stuff. There were also things I didn't like as much, a romantic subplot that came out of nowhere and was not well developed topping that list.
Between a pick and a so-so.

This was a surprise win!! Really excited to find the time to read it. I really enjoyed the author‘s book Next To Love.
This is the third book by Ellen Feldman that I have read. I didn‘t care much for the first two, but I enjoyed this one. I do believe the genre for this one is more historical romance than historical fiction.
