If only Scarlett's mother could advise Jane's heroines on handling unwanted #proposals. 😄 Alas, they're from different #historical eras.

For Scarlett, #isthisdesire to make Ashley jealous? And doesn't Charles have rather a #astalkerkindoflove? #🌹 won't make things better; there's no #magic and she'll #haveagoodcry. #150PnPCoverParty #thisremindsmeof #heartsandhardcovers #readingresolutions #happinessisresistance #fiercefeb #quotsyfeb18

I need some help please! I really want to get rid of my Facebook as I spend more time on Litsy, but I have 2 problems.

1) is that some of my friends are non-readers (I know, shock horror!) but I don't want to lose them. I have this sorted as I will direct them to my Twitter but this won't help with problem number 2!

2) The rest of my friends are of the older generation and I'm unsure that a) they'll have Twitter 👇

jenniferw88 or b) they'd have the right phone to install Litsy on. I'd like to keep these people too! What do you think I should do? Any help/ideas appreciated! 7y
zsuzsanna_reads I think Litsy, Twitter, Instagram do very different things. If you feel you don't need one of those things in your life, you will lose out on some things. So there is no easy solution 😞 Good luck! 7y
zsuzsanna_reads You can always continue checking Facebook infrequently, unless you have a need to shut your account. 7y

fanbookart What i can suggest is that you deactivate your facebook for awhile and see how it goes. If it's not working for you then you can just activate it right back. That's the thing too. My older family members only have FB, so I get your predicament. If you are going to do this, make sure to tell everybody :) 7y
Bambolina_81 I deactivated FB but still have messenger so I can keep in touch with everyone on FB without having to post or see the posts of people I feel I can't delete! 7y
TrishB @Bambolina_81 I just unfollow those people! Then your still friends but you don't have to read their posts unless you choose to go and look. I keep fb for all the authors I follow! 7y
ReadingEnvy I tried deactivating fb when I was fuming about something and realized it's too integrated into my life. I try to give myself permission to just not feel compelled to keep up with every post. 7y
melissanorr I had to step back from Facebook as well and now I only check it once a week and rarely post anything. Of course I also walked away from Twitter and haven't been on that in ~6 months. 7y
Kangaj1 I have taken the FB app off my phone before for long periods. That makes it more difficult to check. I hardly post there anymore. 7y
josie281 I made a post not to actually email individuals when I deleted FB. It caused me to think individually instead of a general post 7y
Betty_Bookworm I would keep Facebook. It seems to be turning into the modern day phone book. I can't tell you how many people from my past it's put me into contact with. Then again, if you are younger you probably have never lost contact with anyone because there has always been Facebook. 7y
Amandajoy I think there's a way on Facebook to curate your feed so you can see more posts from people you want. I know I can't get rid of Facebook because the military has scattered friends & family to the four corners of the world & it's the easiest way to keep in touch. I think you can also hide posts based on key words. 7y
minkyb I am one of those older folks and I don't tweet or have instagram so I would miss my facebook friends who left...I don't spend a lot of time on facebook but I do enjoy friends who share photos. The ads are very very annoying. 7y
CouronneDhiver I quit all other forms of social media ... made sure everyone had my number and email address (and vice versa). There's something to be said for going "old school"... people who actually care about having a meaningful relationship make an effort and the others disappear (their identities might surprise you). (edited) 7y
Bookzombie I deleted FB from my phone and just check it occasionally. Not having it on my phone may be the best thing I've done. 🙂 7y

Jane Austen in our times? Rebecca Smith says 'yes'. Even though 200 years have gone by, many questions are still the same. 👇

Sarah83 Even Jane Austen didn't know what Facebook or in our case Litsy would be. 😍 8y

Redwritinghood I'm interested in your review of The Book Jumper. The translation is supposed to be out in January and I'm thinking of picking that up. 8y
