I was not expecting that ending. This is the first book I have read by this author and will be reading more!

When your book matches your new reading chair!😍
This was intense and disturbing but also so good!!
Definitely check the trigger warnings before reading.
This book was surprising. While you should heed the trigger warnings, I didn't find it as bad as some people were saying. I found that I couldn't put the book down; it was quite thrilling, and I was never sure where the next twist would be.
I was not expecting how dark this book got. It was a fast read, but I was invested in the characters and cared about what happened to them. Very well written with a satisfying ending. But damn it went to a dark place.
Fast read for me. I kept feeling like I read this book before but pretty sure I hadn‘t. May just be very similar storyline in another book I have read.
“Optimism is a sliver of glass in your heart.”
Spent the night and the whole day today finishing this horrific yet a real page turner.
P for A to Z challenge!
Also please recommend books to read starting with Q!!!
I loved characters so much! I rooted for them and hoped they would survive. Characters were well created and I loved how I couldn't know who were trustworthy and who weren't.
This had one brilliant twist and was super captivating.
Horrible but enjoyable thrilling to read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this book locked me in from very early on. I was not expecting it to be so graphic and triggering; but wow what a tale. At times it was hard to read, but I continued to grasp for more information and to learn what really happened. Definitely beware of graphic scenes, but if you like an intense thriller…give it a go!
This book was really good! My jaw definitely dropped a few times! The middle started to really drag, though. Did not need to be this long of a book. Also, I would stay away from the audiobook. The way the author pronounced words that started with a wh.... kept reminding me of the episode of Family Guy when Stewie pronounced cool whip... 4/5
This is my first Karin Slaughter book, and holy shit… I cannot unsee what I read in this book. Im going to have nightmares for weeks. Are they all like this? She‘s a fantastic writer, but I‘m kind of scared to start another one!!
I had to recycle a pic because I gave this one away! It was so #dark and creepy with so many trigger warnings! I just really wanted it out of my house 😫🤣

Low pick mostly because while I felt compelled to keep reading, some of the content just felt like too much. Audio was well done. Her voices were very distinct and easy to identify.

I can't quite figure out why I keep reading Karin Slaughter's novels. They're like cheap appetizers at a party...I don't really like them, but I keep picking them up. This is a particularly harsh book with a combination of predictable twists and twists that made me cock an eyebrow.
Well… that was all kinds of horrific, but definitely a page-turner.
I think I need to take a little breather from Karin Slaughter‘s mayhem.
Not sure what possessed me, but I‘ve powered through FOUR books in the last seven days and it felt good. Big trigger warning for my Litsy friends: This is gruesome to say the very least, but an excellent thriller that kept me on my seat (even if the twists were easily spotted). 4/5 ⭐️

This is in between a pick and so-so… I don‘t recommend it unless you have checked all of the trigger warnings ⚠️

Happy Hump day!! This drink is so good! Sitting at therapy trying to read this creepy book!! 😱📚
This book should come with a trigger warning on the dust jacket! It‘s pretty graphic and violent 🥴
The weather is fitting for this book! 🌧️

I just couldn't get into this one. A woman's husband is murdered and she discovers he was involved with videos of women being tortured and murdered. She and her sister, the other main character, are not very likeable, and the scenes seem too drawn out and slow. It is also pretty predictable (I checked at over halfway to confirm) Maybe if I were reading it instead of listening, I could have skimmed some and made it farther, but I bailed at 20%.

This probably would have only been 4 stars - a little too twistED yet somehow not twistY enough, if that makes sense. But that last chapter/epilogue was so heartbreakingly beautiful that it earned a little extra credit.
Slaughter writes some of the darkest shit I‘ve ever read, and I‘ll read every word. This gripping thriller kept me on the edge of my seat, broke my heart, and sewed it back together again. The best thing about this was the badass female characters. Smart, capable, and relentless, these woman leapt off the page. Trigger warnings for everything, but the real story here is the pursuit of the truth. No matter how horrifying, it will set you free. 5⭐️
Another amazing story, full of intrigue and good characters. Loved how twisted the story was. Some of the chapters written from the father's perspective were irritating but I just skipped them in the end. Loved the book overall.
Book 142
I listened to Pretty Girls, another dark and disturbing novel by Karin Slaughter about abduction and violent rape and murder. It's elaborate and lengthy, but, overall, it's a well-done suspense with some surprises. Enjoyable but not for the sensitive reader. 3.5
🌟🌟🌟🌟A solid dark and twisty thriller for sure. I almost gave it 5 stars but the ending sort of fell apart and ended fell towards typical tropes. Other than that it‘s a rapid fire Paige turner and not for the feint of heart..
This book was so gruesome. It actually made me feel physical revulsion enough to quit with about 20 pages left. I like murder mysteries as much as the next person but this was twisted. 3/10
I'm going through my Audible library and making a re- read/listen list and this is one I didn't know I had in my library. I actually didn't realize how many unread/listened to books I have. I have 167 books in my Audible library and many are due for a second go!
Whoa this book was a little deep in the dark side of humanity. This is the first book by Slaughter that I‘ve read so not sure if she normally writes about such disturbing subjects? I felt the story started out a little slow but definitely picked up in the middle with a few good twists I didn‘t see coming. This one may not be for everyone but if you have a tolerance for disturbing subject matter, I recommend!
This is dark. A story of a family who is utterly broken after the disappearance of their oldest daughter/sister decades ago. While a similar disappearance makes the news, The family is brought together unexpectedly when a tragedy befalls the youngest daughter. However nothing is as it appears, and they don‘t know who they can trust.
Impeccable writing, the characters, the conspiracy. The pacing had me unable to put it down. Horrifying. Wonderful
SO GOOD!
Despite my propensity for true crime, this is my first Karin Slaughter book and it totally delivered.
Such a great plot and character build out.
Checking this off my #bookspinbingo list
I was shocked by the gruesome details and dark nature of this book. I was warned and can understand that it might be graphic for some people. I happened to love the twists and turns and overall story. It kept me on my toes and wondering how it would end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book explores some pretty bleak aspects of humanity. Its conspiracies sometimes were more complicated than I could be bothered to keep up with and it also occasionally suffered for being told from multiple perspectives, but overall it was a good read. Just be warned though that it does explore graphic depictions of sexual violence.

Wow! This is pretty dark and the worst part is there are people like this in the world. A true look at the evil people are capable of. I thought the way the story unfolded was excellent. I couldn‘t put it down. Definitely some difficult topics in this book. Just a warning.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My first foray into audiobooks now that I have a longer commute to work. I was not disappointed. I had a little trouble keeping track of the characters at first, but it was short-lived. The characters are not necessarily the most likable and it takes awhile before you understand the way in which the characters‘ stories intersect. At times, Karin provides TMI with the crime and the goriness of the violence, but I was hooked!!

Does anyone want some Karin Slaughter books? Her books are too dark and gritty for me. I‘m trying to clear out my shelves and I don‘t think all the books will fit in the LFL!
