I kind of remembered how stunning the ending of this was, but not exactly when it came in the series. Yipes. Wow.

I've been in a graphic novel mood the past few days. They're easier to digest while I'm feeling stressed. This series is getting better as it goes on and we learn more about the characters and the fantasy elements. The artwork is vibrantly colored. Excited to learn more now that all of the gods have been revealed

GN Challenge: 6/366

The story itself was ok. There‘s still a lot of questions to be answered and the ending tried to be a cliffhanger, which it it was, but also felt like “WTF just happened”. The artwork is still beautiful though. Overall, I think to truly understand this book, there should be some knowledge on greek gods going in.

3/5⭐ The art and colors are seriously superb, pure magic. I continue to love the Morrigan and to an extent Baphomet. While I mostly enjoy my experience reading this story, there's no lasting impact for me that makes me particularly want to return or care too deeply about the characters, probably because I am completely lost on how the magic works, what the characters' motivations are, and what is going on with the plot. #projectSAMS

Moved really fast, it felt like, but I could look at Jamie McKelvie‘s art and Matt Wilson‘s colors for years, and I truly believe Kieron Gillan‘s comics writing is like waaay too smart for me.

Uh, wow. What just happened? I mean I know what happened...but WOW—maybe even better than the first volume. No giving the plot away so...the story is full of twists & turns & “what-the-what” moments (love those moments). The artwork is awesome throughout but there is a party scene that is truly spectacular & so immersive it leaves you as dizzy as the partygoers. Fame, fan(atics), celebrity, obsession continue to be important themes. A great read.

Ok, who actually thought I‘d be able to stop after Vol. 1?!? 😂 Oddly enough—ok, I confess it was on purpose—I hit the comic store earlier today to get some comics for the kids. Picked up Dragon Ball for my son and the tagged book for my daughter. Perhaps I‘ll preview it for her, make sure I think she‘ll like it...That would be the responsible parent thing to do, right? Right! I‘m glad we‘re in agreement.

This volume was much better than the first but there‘s still room for improvement in the clarity of writing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

LeanneAslin This is helpful - I read the first one and couldn't decide if it was worth reading the next one. I might give it a go now 😊 6y
wellreadredhead @LeanneAslin I just finished the third volume and I hated it so I‘m bailing on the series! 6y
Susannah I‘ve love the art of this series so much (except for Volume 3, which had guest artists whose work I really disliked) that I cut the writing a lot of slack, but you‘re right. There‘s a ton of room for improvement with the writing. 6y

1. On top of my head, the Wicked + Divine graphic novels
2. I've stopped playing favorites in a long while, I'm more inclined to list songs, as will be revealed in #4.
3. Lea Salonga's February 2017 concert. It's the latest and therefore the greatest.
4. Adam Levine's "Lost Stars" and I'm a sucker for Bruno Mars' "Finesse" this late. Any Paramore song circa-2000. Daft Punk's "One More Time".

Loved this one. Thanks @Joscho! #ManicMonday

whimsy @batsy It's an acid trip but a great one. Half of the time leaves one going What is Actually Going On, but certainly a lot of fun too. I recommend! 7y

Dammit... I wasn‘t crazy about the first volume, but interested enough.
I got through this thinking, I can let go of this now - don‘t need to go on with this one.
And thennnnn... the last 20-30 pages of this just grabbed me.
And now I have to get the next one.

In an effort to help the Austin Public Library meet its 1,000,000 Overdrive checkouts I‘m continuing with the series. Now that I‘ve been to comic conventions and similar events, and have learned more about various fandoms, I can relate a lot more to the content in this issue.

My evening has been a cup of Lapsang Souchong & and indulging in some more mythology themed comics.

Tsubame This one is on my tbr since forever already 🙈 What do you think of it? 8y
Limonotte @Tsubame I'm head over heels for it. It's a clever meditation on the idea of Fandom as a function of worship, among other things. The characters all have a fascinating depth that I feel you don't readily find in a lot of comics. Plus the art is great and if you're really into mythology it's a treat to see how much research the authors put into the series. 8y

So this accidentally ended up my first comic of the year as I was staying round a friends who'd already started me on this series. This comic has a great diverse cast but the creative team is mostly male from what I can tell. I do though really like this series and don't want that to put anyone off. Once again the ending on this was kinda explosive and left me wanting more. The artwork is great too

brilliantglow If Brian K. Vaughan is involved the story is usually pretty great from what I've read. That being said, The wicked and the divine is on my list for this year. But I have thoroughly enjoyed Paper Girls and Saga 8y
Weaponxgirl @brilliantglow huge Brian k Vaughan fan here too. Saga is one of the best things out atm imo and I could never stop reading him. 8y
brilliantglow I agree! I gave my brother Saga for christmas too because I love it so much and wanted to share even though I was unsure if he would like it but he was hooked after the first four issues haha. I'm very much looking forward to read The Wicked and the Divine this year as well as continuing Saga. 8y
Weaponxgirl @brilliantglow I did the same to my bro, lol. Lent him one and now he's just like when's the next saga out when he talks to me 8y
brilliantglow Hahaha I bought mine Vol. 1. He told me on boxing day he wished it had more in it so I lent him my copy of Book One. 8y

This entry in the series was okay/good. The artwork is what keeps me coming back, though the storyline isn't bad. Love that there's a Prince-like character in Inanna (pictured), and that the first volume had a Bowie character in Luci. Kind of nervous to see what happens next, with that twist ending!
