We Met in December: A Novel | Rosie Curtis
167 posts | 74 read | 51 to read
Following a year in the life of a twenty-something British woman who falls hard for her London flat mate, this clever, fun, and unforgettable romantic comedy is the perfect feel-good holiday read. Two people. One house. A year that changes everything. Twenty-nine-year-old Jess is following her dream and moving to London. Its December, and shes taking a room in a crumbling, but grand, Notting Hill house-share with four virtual strangers. On her first night, Jess meets Alex, the guy sharing her floor, at a Christmas dinner hosted by her landlord. They dont kiss, but as far as Jess is concerned the connection is clear. She starts planning how they will knock down the wall between them to spend more time together. But when Jess returns from a two-week Christmas holiday, she finds Alex has started dating someone elsebeautiful Emma, who lives on the floor above them. Now Jess faces a year of bumping into (hell, sharing a bathroom with) the man of her dreamsand the woman of his.

Some tea and finishing this one up. I hate cheesy romance novels but this one was actually pretty good.

This book was not for me, so after 80p I‘m letting this one go.

It was better than a so so book but I didn‘t fall in love with this one. It was meh through most of it but I liked the ending.

Mehso-so

It was okay. ⭐️⭐️✨

It's not bad, but it's one of those novels that is over-hyped (or was to me). I'm not a fan of stories that are all setup--it's like endless rising action that plateaus instead of moving to a climax, and offers an unsatisfying resolution. My favorite part of the book are the walks the two main characters would take throughout London and the glimpses they would offer of the city. Otherwise? Meh.

It was okay.
I didn‘t love any of the characters but there were a few anecdotes that made me smile.
The last third got marginally better, I might have just got used to the style.
More than anything, I think I‘m just glad to get it off the pile.

After finishing another Holiday Romance set in London. It's time to cleanse the palate.

Review for Tagged - I wish I had gotten ton Kindle. I could have skimmed some. Just got repetitive. Honestly I get it. Alex is tired & Jess is the New Girl.
I didn't even listen all in one go. Started on NYE and then put aside for a few days to read IRL Book Club read.

Didn't hate it. Mostly just Meh.

Crinoline_Laphroaig Sophie character was really annoying with her controlling and trying to get pregnant angst. 4y
Crinoline_Laphroaig IMHO better of the 2 Holiday reads 4y

Set over the course of a year, we follow Jess and Alex, who meet while sharing a home with 3 others. Both are at a crossroads in life and starting over. I felt that we got to know Alex and side characters more than Jess. She was a little bland. It was fairly predictable but light & cute for the time of year. A pick but I'm not shouting it from the rooftops of Notting Hill.

I read this for the December #sundaybuddyread

I was way behind through reading this for #sundaybuddyread, so I didn't participate in any discussions, but I finished it. Lol

I enjoyed this. I don't think it was super memorable, but I liked the setting and the characters well enough. I liked how the storyline seemed pretty plausible

Finished this audio last week. Such a fun story and really enjoyed the audio. We got to hear from the POV of both Jess and Alex in a year of their lives as housemates, from one December to the next. I felt so sad at some points towards the end in regards to missed opportunities but it wrapped up well. A sweet story set in London and a nice holiday read.

A day late for #SundayBuddyRead , but hooray for me finishing!

This is a delightfully fun, fluffy read, perfect escape reading. Jess and Alex have awkwardness down very nicely, and it was fun to see them grow in a course of a year. I also kept trying to picture the house they all lived in - would love to see it!

Thanks for a fun pick, @TheBookHippie and @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks !

Jess moves to London to follow her dream, and moves into a house with her college friend and three other roommates that she doesn't know. She immediately tales a liking to Alex, and the story follows them through the course of a year in their life, as Jess tries to discern if Alex cares about her the way she cares about him. #SundayBuddyRead #BookSpinBingo

I'm exactly who companies are marketing to when they come out with new flavors of things, lol! 🤣 I always want to try the new flavors of cereal, poptarts, potato chips, coffee... so, when I saw this coffee at the store the other day, I was intrigued. Again, I'm pretty committed to Bones Coffee, but this flavor looked good, and it is! ☕📚 Sunday morning #coffeeandabook, finishing the last section of our last #SundayBuddyRead of 2020.

ChasingOm These always catch my eye as well and, since my husband works at a grocery store, I‘ve tried some weird things. 😂 4y

Very much enjoyed this book. I liked getting to know multiple characters from different perspectives and really identified with Jess as I am the same age and having a similar identity/career discovery right now. The audiobook narration was great. The life problems they faced as characters were realistic as well which I appreciated. Looking forward to discussion with #sundaybuddyread
