Grandville Bete Noir | Bryan Talbot

I had books 3 & 4 on my list of books to finish in 2020 because I thought the series stopped there, so imagine my surprise when a 5th book showed up in Hoopla! More adventures of DI Archie LeBlanc, a badger, in this anthropomorphic alt-history with a few steampunk tendencies. Humans are looked down on, even called doughfaces. 🤣 I love his assistant Roderick Ratzi. I'm amused when the face & hands are their designated animal, but their bodies⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick are essentially human. Makes the sexy time easier to understand I supposed. Overall, this is a fun series with a little bit of different genres.
Book 3: Bete Noir 15 points (TBR)
Book 4: Noel 25 points (Christmas)
Book 5: Force Majuere 10 points (Impulse)

These 10 stories were just OK. We go on holiday adventures with Mickey, Donald, and friends. I might have enjoyed these ones more if I grew up watching Duck Tales. Huey, Dewey, and Louie are cute as always.

❤💚❤💚 I love the vintage art and stories. It was strange that they chose to follow A Christmas Carol with a story closely based on it, but that's just a formatting issue. I will definitely read this again in the future.

These six stories were all set at Christmas or winter, but none stood out. The stories weren't very interesting and seemed a bit...disjointed? It took me just over an hour to read, so I'm not mad at the time spent, but I can't suggest these unless you're a smurfing fan of the Smurfs.

Of the three books in the Men At Work based around holidays, this was second best. If you're looking for something more focused on Hanukkah (but lightly) this fits the bill. Ian is Flash's boss and they hooked up six months ago. Ian is a goody-two-shoes wealthy son of a Senator. Veronica is a lady welder, hence the Flash nickname. This book was just as spicy as the previous two but there was some added light kink in this, too.

When a tragedy leaves Santa feeling like a shell of a human, it's up to the elves to make him see the light...and revenge. A violent departure from the sugary sweet romans that dominate the season, this was sad but fun.

My second ever Christie and first Hecule Poirot book. This one kept me guessing who done it and I can see (again) why Agatha Christie is so popular. It felt set in it's contemporary time but didn't feel stodgy by today's standards. I will certainly be reading others by this author.

bthegood Your review is spot on - I think that is why I have fallen in love with Christie books - they seem to feel current and I am always guessing until the end!! Will add to my TBR - (edited) 4y

Set over the course of a year, we follow Jess and Alex, who meet while sharing a home with 3 others. Both are at a crossroads in life and starting over. I felt that we got to know Alex and side characters more than Jess. She was a little bland. It was fairly predictable but light & cute for the time of year. A pick but I'm not shouting it from the rooftops of Notting Hill.

I read this for the December #sundaybuddyread

I loved this one! Given the premise and the way it starts out, I was kept wondering how it would play out. It was full of Christmassy things like a cabin, family, sledding, snow sculptures, and the tree. I will likely read this in a few years.

This was my official #bookspin December book. I didn't read my double spin this month. @TheAromaofBooks

Finale (Caraval, #3) | Stephanie Garber

Mehso-so

I'm glad to be finished with the series. This very well could be an unpopular opinion, but overall the series dragged and the descriptive language meant to evoke whimsy & wonder grated my nerves. Finale has less of the weird similes, but a few still made it in. This is another book where the Dragna sisters are in a game, or aren't they? Don't believe anything, except this one time, numerous times. It felt like there were too many characters ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick this time around, which made it lose a bit of the charm of the first book. This book had both sister's POV chapters, which definitely helped. It's not awful, but I could probably gripe a lot more than compliment. A mild spoiler below. 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick How many times can these girls be that stupid and how many times can the reader expect to enjoy them getting hurt and duped?! Maybe I'm more sensitive to this being older, but it just felt like they needed legit wins, not all with the help of guys. 4y

Traci1 How terrible is it that I don't remember if I've read the first one of these? I I did, but I am not sure. 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @Traci1 It wasn't all that memorable. I was active with the BookCon app for a few years and many of them were huge YA fans. They raved about these and I'm totally underwhelmed by each one. (Probably why I own them all). I'm glad I found Litsy. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! This series has been on my TBR forever but I never seem to get around to it. Maybe I never will 😂 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @TheAromaofBooks This very well could be a case of me being a grump. If you're interested, I can send them to you. 4y
TheAromaofBooks haha I never turn down books from my list, so you are welcome to send them my way - although I still don't know when I read them!! 😂 4y
TheSpineView I read the first book in the series. It was Ok but I never felt the urge to the the next one. 4y
Andrew65 Brilliant progress 👏👏👏 Shame this one wasn‘t better. 4y
