#WinterGames24 #HolidayBookDragons @LiseWorks Total pts: 1080

This turned out to be a wintry read, which I didn't know going in (I just needed it for my 50 Horror States challenge). This is not a happy read, but it counterbalanced some of the Hallmark movie vibes my other reads and movies give.

Tinfoil Butterfly is definitely a little different… not sure if I like it or not just yet. In my experience, every book I‘ve read with the word “butterfly” in it is a difficult read. Not sure why that is. 🧐🦋

4✨ This review is hard. Not because the book was bad or amazing, but because of the drug induced detox the main character went through. There is no confusion in she has a whole lot of demons she‘s trying to work through. All the characters are actually so I wasn‘t too clear on if we were in the real world or some Mad Max type of world. There was a lot of confusion for me on what was really happening, but I couldn‘t put it down twisty.

Mentioned life happened. Our fridge died, then started working again after we bought a new one. We are getting a broken one out of here from the garage, putting the old one in its place, putting the new one in the kitchen. I‘ll be reading the tagged in between musical fridges. So I‘m calling this my book and chill for #FestivePhotoChallenge #WinterGames2021 @StayCurious

StayCurious sorry about the broken fridges but funny post for the prompt 3y

4🌟A great debut! Eerie, gripping, I flew through it!
Moulton wrote about family, trauma and addiction well and believably, and she did a great job representing the LGBTQ community. If you struggle to enjoy thrillers/suspense books like I do I reccomend giving this a go because it really worked for me! #bookreview #bookstagram #bookblogger #bookblog

I‘m not sure I would categorize this as horror - maybe more of a thriller 🤷‍♀️. Anyway, this was a dark read that I couldn‘t put down!

I think I‘m mailing to you this round, @Littlewolf1 ?

#LMPBC #Round12 #GroupT

BarkingMadRead I just finished mine as well! I‘m hoping to mail by Friday! 3y
Roary47 I‘m going to start mine next. I am reading a lot right now at once. 😅 3y
Roary47 To answer your question, sorry 😭. Yes, I‘ll mail to you, you to @Littlewolf1 , her to @BarkingMadRun, and then back to me. I needed to switch so we would all still be mailing it to someone. 3y
Jadams89 @Roary47 that‘s what I thought. Thanks! 3y

Listened to in February with my mom driving through the country. As South Dakotans we enjoyed the landscape aspect. I liked this book A LOT. Made me think about what is underneath us all. What is evil and what are we capable of.

This is the first time I have ever left a not so nice review on Goodreads and I feel kind of gross about it.
I just couldn‘t get into this and it was nothing like The Shining or About a Boy as described. The only way I can describe my feelings for the narrator is with an eye roll. ⭐️⭐️1/2 for some beautiful prose and moments of true horror. Full review was way too long to post here but it is here:

Reggie I know. Sometimes I‘m just like, leave the low star rating and get out. Yours wasn‘t mean. It was a nice gentle pan. 4y
ElleSkel Thanks @Reggie I really feel terrible about it like, who am I to judge but with this I just felt like others use the site to decide whether not to read something so sharing is sometimes necessary. It helps k owing it didn‘t come across as cruel. 4y

Not sure how I feel about this one yet! I can‘t connect with the main character and am a little creeped out by her relationship with her stepbrother. Shiner of course thinks it would be a cozy spot for a nap no matter what book I‘m reading. #bookswithmycalico

What an interesting book! I read this based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. A quick read, too. I read it in two sittings. It's a bit horror with a bit of supernatural. Emma's journey just sucks you in and won't let go.

A spine tingling piece of horror that incorporates both the supernatural and psychological. Escaping from her own personal demons, Emma hitchhikes into the midwestern badlands during winter only to be stranded in a deserted town. Encountering a strange boy in a tinfoil mask, she realizes someone or something is stalking her and the only way out is to confront her troubled past.

This book is little but it packs a punch. Love and depression and drugs and pain and a ghost town. Yes, a ghost town. I love these mildly hallucinating narratives. #scarathlon #teamStoker 3 points.

....ugh...I just...ughhh....I just feel like the narrator on audible's voice was just...ugh...awful? I think the premise is very interesting and maybe I'll try to pick up the actual book....but between the narrator's weird robotic, but oddly panicky voice and Emma just annoying me...I may have to pass..

BookBabe Bummer, I know what you mean. I‘ve experienced that with audiobooks a few times, and it really ruins the book. When that happens I try to get the ebook from the library and read it that way instead, if it seems worth it. 5y
IndyHannaJones @BookBabe ...I can usually forgive a 'weird' narrator...but for whatever reason her voice was just like nails on a chalkboard to me. Weirdly flat, but then like breathy and constantly sounding on the brink of panic at the same time. And I found myself just not caring about the main characters and that's not a good sign. 5y
IndyHannaJones I would like to know how it ends if anyone wants to spoil it for me!!! 5y
