I tried to listen to this audiobook while doing some self-care baking (zucchini muffins YUM), but I found that the story was a little too stressful for self-care wind-down time (and that the chocolate chips were a little too plentiful in the muffins I included them in). Lessons learned, achievements unlocked, etc. etc. Onward and upward, eh? ☺

I finally picked up a physical copy of this yesterday! There are a ton of great authors here, but I am most excited for Patrick Rothfuss' short story about Bast from The Name of the Wind. He just might be my favorite character from that series. #epicbuddyread #teamkillambrose

I got this from the library so I could read the Patrick Rothfuss story (thank you, #EpicBuddyRead—I want more about Bast!), but I‘m thinking I need to read a few more of these as well...

My January TBR! My goal for the year is 52 books (one a week) so I‘m scaling back my TBRs to reflect that. Also trying a new TBR layout in 2018. We‘ll see how I like it.

An anthology collecting a few of my favorite authors telling short stories highlighting some of their...less than heroic characters. I guess we can't all be good guys.

Some of the stories were really good. Some fell flat.

Here is my #novembertbr! My ambitious goal is to finish all the books I‘ve started this year, but then put down for one reason or another. I want to at least have all these finished by January 😰. Any of these look good? Also, went with a Seattle sports theme this month because my beloved Sounders are once again in the playoffs ⚽️🏆💚

This short story has zombies in it, but a different kind than we're used to. It's creepy in a real world way- HERE is an absolutely realistic way a zombie apocalypse could happen, it involves the cruelty of man so you know it is possible.

I love a book of short stories, especially when it has gems.

Just remembered this absolute gem of a collection too! The Neil Gaiman story is How The Marquis Got His Coat Back, which was released as a stand alone novella recently. My favourite is the first story, Tough Times All Over by Joe Abercrombie. I still need to read more of his work because I loved his writing style in this.

4/5⭐️ Some novellas in this were SO AMAZING (such as "The lightning tree" by Patrick Rothfuss and "What do you do?" by Gillian Flynn), while others were not as good ("Tawny petticoats" by Michael Swanwick). Read in December 2016.

Switching gears from audio to visit London Below! #24in48

An eclectic collection of 21 stories by 21 authors. The G Flynn story is The Grown Up (titled here: What Do You Do) and the Neil Gaiman story was an excerpt of Neverwhere. I recommend the audiobook because Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) and Iain Glenn (Jorah Mormont) are just two of the narrators. Also, the GoT story is so good!! 😁👍👍

I'm not a fan of short stories in general, but had to pick this up because of the story about Bast, The Lightning Tree, by Patrick Rothfuss. All of the stories are about a rogue of some kind, and it's a pretty fun collection.

Definitely not reading this entire anthology but so very excited for THE LIGHTENING TREE.

As it happens, I discovered that I do in fact have this anthology on my iPad. So I enjoyed a quick read of The Lightning Tree by Patrick Rothfuss. While I enjoyed it, I have to say the novella about Auri was far more interesting for me.

I don't usually like collections of short stories, but I'd heard good things about several of these. I absolutely loved a few (the ones by Flynn, Willis, Rothfuss and Martin). Most of the others were ok. I'd definitely recommend this collection for scifi or fantasy fans.
