This is a relatively short listen - only 5 hours at regular speed. It is a very sweet, a little predictable, and quite charming middle grade novel. I love Lola the dog and Churo the kitten.

Everything a middle grade story should be. If you are tired of the orphaned or neglected children stories, this one is for you! Beautiful on audio.
A heartfelt story and a quick read. Ryan has outdone herself again. I really connected with Max, a sweet young protagonist who wants to believe in happy endings. Realistic fiction with a charming magical feel. I would totally consider this as a read aloud for my students!
Max Córdoba lives with his father and Buelo and loves to play fútbol with his friends. He loves his family, but he wants to more know about his mother who left the family when he was an infant. As Max uncovers his family secret a stranger in need arrives at his door. Max‘s decision will leave his family changed forever.
Loved this new story from the wonderful Pam Muñoz Ryan!

#bookmail no. 1! I‘m so excited to read this new release! I love Ryan‘s writing and this might even be a good read aloud with my students! Featuring my succulent, Rosa!
I just realized I didn‘t ever post my review of this book. I‘m a recent convert to this author but I‘ve read three of her books in short order. This newest one is another great story. I like how she trusts her young readers to handle tough topics. This one features a great main character and mixes real life issues with some magical realism for a compelling story.
I had a great time today at Quail Ridge Books with my friends‘ son Phillip. He wanted to go meet author Pam Munoz Ryan and asked me to go along. I have bought books for him since he was born and I‘m so thrilled he loves reading. (He has great taste too because her books are really good!)
Another wonderful middle grade book. You will absolutely love the main character Max. He lives with his father & grandfather in a small village in an imaginary country in South/Central America. There's a fun fairy tale aspect added to the serious concepts of the journey Max undertakes to find out more about his mother. This has the result of making the important issues being portrayed in this book relatable and understandable to children. â£
I have been buying books for my friend‘s kids since they were born. They know if they ask for a book I will absolutely get it. Tonight I got this text that her middle son is excited about an author event and wants me to go with him! I‘m just thrilled that he loves reading. It‘s the tagged book.
The upcoming book by Esperanza Rising author Pam Munoz Ryan. A story concerning immigration, refugees, family, and compassion for middle readers. A metaphor that reflects our current political climate.
