Things felt a little more predictable and disjointed in this one compared to the first. But still totally drawn in and must read the next one as soon as possible!

A YA series that doesn‘t ask too much. It‘s light, but very readable. The main character, America, is exhausting at times with her wishy-washiness, but I enjoy the political element. I needed something mindless during a crazy time at work and this is perfect, but I wish it didn‘t make me roll my eyes quite so much.

This one was a quick read…not anything earth-shatteringly impressive, but entertaining! Now back to The Southern Book Club‘s Guide to Slaying Vampires…

I put The southern Book Club‘s Guide to Slaying Vampires on hold because it was too bulky to bring into the BWCA, so I started this one on the kindle. Not a bad backdrop.

PAIN! ♥️ I love these kids so much yet don‘t know how to feel about their choices; some pages had me on their side, some had me conflicted. My trust issues alarm ignited when Mer was giving out info at the Italian party or whenever a guard did anything 😂 I feel something terrible brewing. Halloween party was 🥰 & the King 🫠 I see Maxton as this innocent bb and the last scene had me scared 🥲💛

This was so good!!! It‘s nice to be reading good books again, since a lot of the ones I read this month have be subpar. I miss the food descriptions that were in the first one, but it only leaves room for more adjective on the dresses. This book delved more into the dystopian element of Illéa. 5?

Sequel to The Selection. This one got annoying to me with the main characters fickle love triangle. She got irritating with her lack of decision making. I found myself missing some of the underlying historical/political components the first book has. Hoping for better again with the next, because naturally I have to finish the series now 🤣

The Elite is the sequel to The Selection by Kiera Cass. Here we follow America who tries to decipher her feelings between Aspin and Maxon.

This book was a complete rollercoaster, one minute I wanted to scream at the book and the next I was just as giddy as America. It really enchanted me, pulling me into the story and it's world- I wanted and still want to know everything about it, so much so that I'm putting the next book on hold as we speak.

This is such an amazing book! I couldn‘t put it down, the author has an amazing ability to get you hooked. Kiera Cass is one of my favourite authors now. She effectively writes enough to make you imagine what happens. She sometime will write some “boring stuff” but I really love the way she writes. I just started the next book so I‘m really excited to see what it has to show me!

coffeewithbooks I loved this book and the first one. It did have me on a emotional roller coaster. 3y

The characters made me so mad with their decision making and selfishness. However, I had to remember the ages of the characters and the mindset of teenagers and it was easier to digest. I loved the story line and can‘t wait to read the next one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It‘s been so long since I‘ve fallen over a story this hard. The last one was probably when I was a tween, fan-girling over Harry Potter and Twilight.

Is it weird to say that this series has turned my life upside down?? 😂 I‘m procrastinating on work and I finished this and the one before this in 2 days!
Definitely a keeper. I‘ll have this one in the shelf for a pretty long time.

Rating: 4.5/5

This is the second book in the series. I‘m not a fan of the love triangle or some of the girls still in the selection. Some of the mystery is unfolding and it‘s getting good. Cant wait for the next one!

3/5 ?

Book 2 was so close to being a 2.5/5. You could almost spare yourself the torture of the love triangle TRASH that the whole middle of the book is. Skip it, read the beginning & end & you won't be yelling insults & despising the main character for her absolute stupidity. You can only flip flop & "make up your mind" so many times. The ending SAVES this book & allows you to move forward in the series...if you can make it that far.

On to book 2! Is yelling insults at the main character a good sign? Because hiii this love triangle is making me see RED. The choice is clear to me🤷‍♀️

I still dislike stories with love triangles, but I still enjoyed book 2 of the Selection Series. Given all the craziness in the world, it is nice to just enjoy a story that you don't have to think about and can just listen to.

The second book in the Selection series was full of drama and that messy love triangle. The 35 girls have been slowly reduced to six as they all vie for the Prince‘s affection all the while rebel forces plot to overthrow the monarchy. The heroine, America, asked to be alone and think so often which just landed her in more trouble anyway, and I found that irritating. It still had me eagerly listening!

Mer's circular feelings about Maxon - and the ensuing cycle of accepting his love, doing something foolish, then rejecting him - had the potential to get very old very quickly. Fortunately, the story was fleshed out by exposing even more of the various injustices of Illea. That, plus the developing mystery of the invading rebels, built up the world much better than the previous book & made it richer. All in all, another fun, quick read.
