Love the humor in this book so far.
My spooky gifts from @Litlady are fantastic! I already did the dot bookmark today. I'll need the slippers and cute pumpkin mug real soon in PA. I love the Beetlejuice candy tin. The books all sound so perfect and creepy. Thank you so much @Litlady You always amaze me and I'm so grateful. Happy Halloween to you all!!!

My book purchase today while waiting for the tea shop to 📖 🧋☺️ #mastersofdeath
Read this one many months ago ...this book took me by surprise. On the surface its a story about a real estate agent who was turned into a vampire, trying to get rid of a ghost so she could sell the house by seeking help from Death's godson but somehow got tangled up in a mission to find Death. But actually it is a story about Love & it touched my heart very deeply.💔
Love the dry humor through out & her beautiful philosophical writing.
Still reading this, only halfway through but I have to say it‘s making me laugh.
A fun read full of quirky characters and witty dialogue. The ending even had a surprising twist.
Thanks @Eggs for tagging me and @debinhawaii for creating this fun play-card 👍.

1 - My family had a peaceful and safe 4th of July 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇲.
2 - Remained with a book that didn't interest me at first, and discovered a treasure of a story 📚🏆 (tagged).
3 - Discovered David Giuntoli and actress Bitsie Tulloch are married, which (for wacky me) is like reading about happily-ever-after to a Grimm fairytale 💫💝.👇
What does a reader do when they can't sleep? 🌛📚😉...
This is an extraordinary kind of story. It took me awhile to grasp interest, then Brandt came into the story and I began to pay more attention.
The story is complex. Slowly, I began to like all the characters and kept returning to the character artwork at the front and back of the book, studying them. Each time, they seemed anew. Details, afresh. 👇
I hadn't realized that this book would be heavily focused on a game. A gamblers game.
A game is one thing, but a story about gambling almost never catches my interest.
Although, for some reason this book reminds me of a game from Native America. Not the same, just to be clear. Just hints of these games have me weighing them together...👇
These characters have me analyzing this qoute...
I normally give a book only two chances, before tossing into our donation box. I was very nearly ready to toss when a new character came into the book. The mysterious, Brandt Solberg.
The “I found you“ scene on the last bit of chapter X (with Brandt and Fox) was incredible. 👇
Going to give this a second chance.
Been about six months since I took a break from this book. Hopefully I can connect to the story this time around.
Do want to like this one.

Book 18📚 4⭐️
So I‘m obsessssed with the inside cover of this book and the other art work, it‘s so beautiful.
There is A LOT of bickering in this book😂 but I found it pretty hilarious, I‘d watch this as a series for sure!!
Who knew Death had a godson?! You hear it here first!
This story seems to have everything going for it...yet I cannot connect ❕. Very frustrating.
I'm going to let it sit awhile and give the story another try later...I really want to like this one.
My notes while reading:
- A little kitschy with the tongue in cheek dialogue and winky wink asides to the reader. A little annoying; a little fun.
- Love a good Death as narrator
- Trying to be witty…a little too hard. Rings false.
- Is everyone lazy?
- The constant moving around of characters is a lot.
Its a pick but I‘m annoyed about it.
What can I say, I‘m a sucker for books with Death as a narrator. I had a few issues with this one (the fact that the timeline was so short but they spent FOREVER in one house talking about doing things), but I loved that Blake gave all the characters with romances history, so it wasn‘t insta-love. Also the art on the end pages? Gorgeous.
I haven't abandoned my current reads 😁... Just slow going.
This one isn't what I was expecting...yet interesting nonetheless.
Still trying to get used to the voice of the story...
I haven't connected with any character yet, although there are a few characters who have some of my favorite names.
This story is told from different character viewpoints, which I always like.
Still barely into this one 📗😉...was surprised by this illustration!
On one hand, I finished it. On the other, it felt convoluted + a bit fanfic-ish—the writing tries really hard to be smart, clever, & quirky. I started skimming because there were lots of passages that were just there & didn't matter to the overall story.
In the end, I found this book failed a bit in its execution. And the ending was wrapped up too neatly with an overly done HEA.

I plan to finish the tagged today & then start Witch King. I leave Wednesday for vacation, and I have Filthy Rich Vampire on my kindle to read on the plane. I probably won‘t have time to do more than that.
The inside illustration of back cover, WOW 😃 double Epic.
The inside illustration of front cover, WOW 😃 Epic.
Found my copy at Walmart. Too excited 😉.
I was looking for something strange and unusual. Since Lydia wasn‘t available (ha, get it?) I chose Masters of Death. What a ride so far. The language is incredibly superfluous and I am delighted by it! #theviewfromhere #bookstagram #lenezreads #mastersofdeath
Finally getting around to starting this! 💚💜💚💜 I'm excited! I have loved everything that I've read by Olivie Blake so far so I have high hopes for this one!
Managed to take a bookish walk after work today and it was perfect!
This would be a great pick for fans of Erin Morgenstern and young adult fantasy readers ready to bump up into the books-for-grown-ups category. The tone is irreverent but somewhat self-consciously so. I found it pretty hard to sink into, before I even got to the Rube Goldberg machine of a plot, but maybe I just haven't read enough urban fantasy (or fantasy full stop). Found a nice place to read at the holiday picnic. #laborday #weekend #trevorprojectreadathon
I just received OwlCrate‘s August Adult Fantasy book & it‘s gorgeous! The dust jacket outside and in, the hardcover, and the endpaper! 😍 Plus the edges are black too, which really makes it stand out.
I hadn‘t heard of this book until I got it but it‘s going in the pile for this weekend‘s #20in4.
Took me until 60+% to see this book as a novel of its own and not a fan-fic based on Good Omens, Discworld's Death, The Sandman, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, How to Stop Time, and The Library of the Unwritten.
It was good, but there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end, too much backstory here, too little there, and endless dialogue where I wasn't quite sure who was talking.

Who wore it better? 🤔
I'll be honest, I love both covers and can't decide which I like more! 💕📚 The one on the right is the regular edition and the one on the left is the B&N special edition!
I really liked this one. It wasn't at all what I was expecting but in a good way. I laughed out loud several times and this vast and varied set of characters were fun and unique. I may have even needed a kleenex. So you know it's a good one.
Starting my weekend with an ARC of the Olivie Blake book out in August.
Interesting but more of a romance than a fantasy. Too much telling about the characters' love connections and not enough showing. Even so it was a fun read.
