It‘s a short, easy read, with nuanced characters, emotions that ring true, and the plot has plenty of depth and tension. Ali Hazelwood strikes again! She packed in so much and I still found myself laughing out loud. This is not just a romcom, Elsie is a stand-in for all the performances those of us who don‘t fall into a majority demographic have to put on, and the consequences if we don‘t fit someone else‘s standards.
Read for a good time and a smart, lighthearted walk through some serious topics.

I was going to read this anyway then I heard someone say they heard somewhere that the love interest is based on Jack from While You Were Sleeping. I am now devouring this Portland, OR -based, updated and incredibly relatable While You Were Sleeping minus Bill Pullman.
It took about 100 pages to pick up (sea pun intended), but then it was a fun and eventful race to the end with several unexpected turns.

Ok, this one was not starting out as strong as the last Meant To Be novel but, at the start of chapter four our female protagonist admits to hating food that jiggles. Finally, someone understands!!! Jell-o, flan, pudding, custard— if it moves on it‘s own and is no longer alive is disturbing. I feel seen.
pickMy main regret about reading The Love Hypothesis is that I was not able to read it all in one sitting. It was delightful, heart warming, heart wrenching and real while also being escapist. As someone dedicated to their studies and likely a life in academia (though not in STEM) this book nailed the best and worst of it. I also appreciated a lead on the asexual and aromantic spectrum that I could relate to. No, there is no power-play between leads.
Always look under the dust jacket. The details on and in Nettle & Bone are exquisite.
pick“You‘re not kind, but you care, deeply.” I can‘t help it, I absolutely fell in love with this book. It‘s full of Edwardian properness, magic and mystery, and steamy romance.
After the positively delicious magical realism of The Heartbreak Bakery, I was craving a fantasy full of magic and romance. A Marvellous Light is serving this up in spades! I want to spend the evening nestled inside this story.
