Perfect May the 4th reading. This one is a fully contained story, the nearest of friends as kids, fate, or something else has led Izzy back to the only planet she was ever on long enough to stay home. The simple job turns out to be not so simple and might delay her long enough to wonder about Jules who is not so little these days.

One of the best Star Wars books I‘ve read in a long time. I pray to one day have a love like Izzy and Jules.

“he was struck by three things. One, there was nothing and no one in the galaxy as beautiful as Izal Garsea. Two, he was certain that the mechanisms of the world, the stars, luck, the Force itself, had brought her back to him somehow. And he loved her.” (Córdova, 267)

CrowCAH I LOVE THIS BOOK! 😍 So much so, I actually own it, that‘s a huge step for me. I agree, to have a love like their‘s would be out of this world. 4y
LMAN8BSA @CrowCAH That‘s awesome! This one is definitely one that I‘ll reread in the future! 4y

Friends, I woke up two hours early and couldn‘t get back to sleep. Argh. I killed the time with two of Eva Ibbotson‘s short stories, the start of what turned out to be a quick-bail, and the prologue of this Star Wars novel. I read another chapter with my allocated slice of birthday cake, and now I‘m ready to tuck up in bed and read until I‘m too tired to go on.

Which‘ll probably be pretty soon. Waking up early is the worst.

It was easy to settle on my December Must-Reads list—it‘s just the four 2020 purchases (and one freebie) I haven‘t cleared off La TBR yet. With any luck, I‘ll finish ‘em all this month so I can start 2021 with a clean slate. Gotta stick to that get-book-read-book lifestyle (even if I do usually end up reading the books by the end of the quarter when I got them, not right away as I‘d like).

#Tourist #BoundTogetherJune

I was a tourist when I went down to Florida for Disney‘s Hollywood Studios where Star Wars Galaxy‘s Edge resided.

Here are my souvenirs (and the book I bought at home).

Bookish Song Nr. 8: Let There Be Cowgirls

Well, we know that Star Wars is more Science Fantasy, than a Space Western. But still I couldn't stop thinking of Izzy and Jules whenever this song came up. Izzy doesn't ride horses, but she rides other vehicles 😉

Also, the whole childhood friends turn into lovers theme - to me it just fits. Even the fathers and the farms 😄

I‘ll be the first to admit I was leery about the new Star Wars books, set in the world they were building for the new Disney Park attractions, but this was a great story.

Young best friends, torn apart by the crazy Star Wars universe, thrown back together to have an adventure and find both themselves & their love for each other as the First Order and Resistance slowly start coming out of the shadows on this outer rim planet.

Graciouswarriorprincess I saw the author online today talk about this book. I can‘t wait to read it. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Graciouswarriorprincess I have got to get better about tracking down author online content. But yes, for one completely out of our usual Star Wars worlds, it was a very good and YA friendly, and could be read by people not steeped in all the other novels and side characters. It‘s in the world but also a good independent adventure, love story, action, etc but with the Star Wars themes of the family you find, shared community, etc (edited) 5y
Graciouswarriorprincess @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Thanks. I actually set up an online calendar just for all the online book events. It helps me keep them all straight. Too many but that is a good thing! Happy reading! 5y

Well, I do NOT like love stories. Yikes! Except!!! When it's Star Wars. Then they work for me. Then they work perfectly well for me and I get to get a glimpse at the why so many people enjoy reading/watching love stories. But I need my share of aliens, space ships and pew pew pew to get into it.

What I also thought of as very touching was how Cordova inserts the topic of the importance of a family in her book ❤

Crash of Fate is cute romance set in the Star Wars universe. Izzy gets a job to deliver a package to her homeworld of Batuu where she reconnects with her childhood friend Jules and of course there are lots of complications.
I admit my favorite part is the book itself. I love how the cover is done under the book jacket 💗

Andrew65 Unfortunately won‘t be able to join in during May as here a Crash of Fate is not released until 24th June. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Andrew65 How odd, here it came out last August. Sorry about that, I try not to plan them until they‘ve been out for awhile so they are a bit more available from the library etc. I didn‘t even realize that it was so many months later where you are. Again, sorry about that. 5y
Andrew65 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa No need to apologise it can‘t be helped. 😊 UK must have some later publication dates. 5y

I did not build my BB-8 unit at the Droid Depot in Galaxy‘s Edge, but he works just the same! (And I don‘t have to fly him home) Though, I did build me an elemental lightsaber hilt! 😍
The book shown takes place on Batuu in Black Spire Outpost; a place where I spent much of my day. It‘s such an awesome part of the park; loved all the attention to detail.

This was enjoyable enough & if you are a young Star Wars fan, you will likely enjoy this YA book which is clearly part of Disney‘s effort to place its Galaxy‘s Edge, Black Spire Outpost park in the Star Wars universe. That isn‘t necessarily a bad thing as it provides narrative background for the park in telling the story of two friends who reconnect after being apart for over a decade. Danger, adventure, romance & all the Star Wars you could want.

Had a friend in town yesterday so I didn‘t do much reading but I‘m back at it today. My son is still big into Star Wars so I‘m big into Star Wars so we can talk about the books. I absolutely love and appreciate that my thirteen-year-old likes to talk books with me!

I realize some people don‘t like the idea that these books are written around the theme park, but Black Spire and this one were some of my favorite Star Wars reads of last year. They‘re fun and well written. It‘s different and interesting to have stories told in the Star Wars universe that take place across such short time stretches. I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The story all takes place in a day, 24 hours!

Such a tale of fate for two kids growing up on Batuu and being reunited after 13 years separation! A must read for anyone who will be going to Galaxy‘s Edge! Several of the places/attractions are referenced within the text.

A decent listen. Definitely geared towards a YA audience. A few too many cliche moments. I was not a fan of the narrator's voice. There are a good deal of characters, and I didn't feel like her range was adaquite. I can't quite say it's a recommendation, but it was entertaining.
