I‘ve been rereading my Paul Auster reviews and the tagged one is the one I enjoyed the least of his books. All others were four stars or more for me. I still have 4321 to read. So sad there won‘t be any new ones coming.

Leftcoastzen Love your post! I currently do not have a copy of New York Trilogy, every time I meet someone who seems interested in it , I give it to them and say you must read this !😄 7mo
sarahbarnes The only book I‘ve read by him is 4321, actually, but I have been meaning to pick up The New York trilogy. This news made me sad. 7mo
Billypar Great tribute! I have complete booknesia for Moon Palace - I couldn't say a thing that happened in it, and I rated it a little lower on Goodreads. The only other one I was lukewarm on was Travels in the Scriptorium, but I haven't read any that I outright disliked. 7mo
Centique I have got 4321 and must get to it. Very sad news 💔 7mo

In 1960s' New York, young orphan M.S. Fogg is trying to cope with an existential crisis after his uncle and last known family member dies. Motivated back to life by his first love, he starts working for a disabled rich old man who introduces him to an unbelievable story spanning on three generations and hiding the key to uncovering the mysteries of his own existence. This author is such a great storyteller.

This is my favorite book read in December!

I love a good coming-of-age story, but this goes beyond. It also has a cool ending.

This was a rare cover-buy and it paid off!

34 books read in April. 11 from TBR lists, 5 were audio books.
Favourite Books: Clans of Tokito by Caroline Brinkmann, Second Sister by Chan Ho-kei and A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum. But I had a lot of great books this month. Once again, it's hard to choose.

Now on to May!

The first Paul Auster I read in English. Went better than expected 👍

The book needs some time until one gets the whole picture, but since we're talking about Paul Auster, nobody will be surprised by that. I loved how everything comes together. Also, the struggles Marco has to go through, helped me a lot with dealing with my own. So this book came at exactly the right moment.

Some of the books planned for April. More ebooks than physical copies this round 😅 Again, I planned so many books, I totally stress myself out 🙈

I‘m not usually a fan of flowery writing, but I‘m starting to get into it here. Hopefully the interest continues and I can finish the book!

After my book club meeting yesterday I went on the hunt for our next selection...and found these instead. It‘s hard to resist those Penguin Ink covers!
See any favorites?

So how do I review this odd but fascinating book? I neither liked nor respected the MC, but cared what happened to him. It was full of unbelievable coincidences, yet I willingly suspended disbelief. I don‘t remember when or why this was added to my Kindle library, but I‘m glad it was. @tournevis , you were right. It is so, so good.

CarolynM I'm intrigued. Stacked. 5y

“I found myself a room at the Comb Ridge Motel in the town of Bluff, and for the next month I spent my days exploring the surrounding countryside.”
Never thought I would see Bluff, UT in a book. It‘s about as close to the middle of nowhere as you can get!

LinesUponAPage Me either! How funny! Although I did read a book about Lullaby Road off the same area so I guess it‘s not too weird. (edited) 5y

Not as good as « In the country of last things » but still superior quality. Always well written (from a non-anglophone point of view).

"All children are love children," he said, "but only the best ones are ever called that."

Haven't read any Auster since the New York trilogy, but I couldn't pass up this prestine Penguin edition from Mr. K's. It and a few other titles have nearly cleared out my credit.

Tamra @Booksnob @RebelReader bookstores are smart to diversify when they can. People who can browse and chat or relax will come in & buy more often. 7y
Booksnob @Tamra yep. I‘m going back in Independent bookstore day next Saturday. They are having poetry readings all day. 7y
RebelReader @Tamra @Booksnob I was just at Changing Hands in Phoenix and they have done this too. My daughter drank wine while I browsed for books. Who doesn't love a bookstore with a bar and food! 7y

Booksnob @Tamra not Greek. American. Pizza and salads. 7y
RebelReader @Booksnob @Tamra I would love that, but a weeknight would be tough for @Tamra as she teaches out of the metro. I have been thinking of doing a #LitsyMinnesotaMeetup on a Saturday when the weather improves. 7y
Booksnob @RebelReader I Im for a Litsy meetup and will help you plan if you want. 7y

When a package from a Goodreads group comes in! Yippee! I have read none of these #1001books. And I haven‘t decided which to start with—any opinions?#reading1001

JenP Yay! Glad it got to you! I love the things they carried. Haven‘t read any of the others 7y
emilyhaldi Nice!!! 7y
Liz_M Moon Palace is good for awhile and then goes meh. The Things They Carried is brilliant if you enjoy metafiction and stories about stories. 7y
BarbaraBB Nice stack. I read the Auster and O‘Brien and liked them both. I have been looking forward to 7y

A story in three parts of which I liked the first best. The second did bore me a bit, although I am still a fan of Auster's style. #1001books

Thank goodness for #audiobooks! I've been under the weather for a couple of days so I'm trying to clear some of my unfinished books while it's still 2016 by listening as I sniffle. I wasn't loving this book in print format, but the audio didn't help. The first part of the book was fine, but it just unraveled from there. Too much self indulgence for my taste, but some interesting writing & themes throughout.

DeborahSmall I loved this one 💞 8y
outis @DeborahSmall I wish I had loved it! I wonder if I would have enjoyed it more in print (without the painfully slow narration) and/or if I had been feeling better. 8y

My December #tbr has some carryovers from last month so in an attempt to be reasonable, I'm adding only the 2 books that I need to read for my December book groups. But then again, there are always those 60+ unread ebooks waiting for me on my kindle....
