Parts had me giddy, but the characters don't resolve things in an expected/logical way. I guess I mean that the drama isn't as dramatic as I would've hoped?

Quick read about two people that appear to loathe each other turns office romance. I found the story to be good. I‘ve read many mixed reviews but as an introvert myself, I understand how hard it is to open up and let someone else in.
(For fans of Christina Lauren) Open-door romance in the ever-growing enemies to lovers trope. I loved the evolution of the story, the character development, insecurities, emotions and plot. Only disappointment was the pacing of the end was too rushed. If word count limits were an issue, a follow up novel would have been well deserved, instead of such as an abrupt end. Still a worthy pick if you are jumping on the illustrated cover romance train.

This was an enemies to lover romance with similar vibes to The Hating Game. It was a fun, quick read. There's not a lot of conflict, but sometimes it's nice to read a book where things go pretty well generally.
This book seemed like it had some promise in the beginning, but the climax of the story occurs far too soon. In fact, I was sure there had to be more twists and turns, but the roadblocks they encounter on the way barely register as speed bumps. Hate to love love stories are a favorite of mine, but only when they are done well (i. e. The Hating Game). There was no slow burn here. Just generic dialogue filler where there could have been so much more.
I‘ve seen mixed reviews on this one, but I‘m in the mood to keep things light, so I‘ll give it a whirl.
This went from a pan to a pick for me at about the halfway point, honestly I almost bailed. But what I thought was boring became very intentional and I can appreciate a romance that takes it slow. Also points for a Filipina MC, and discussions of hardcore introversion. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼1/2

A cute, loathe-to-love office romance.
Working in a male dominated field has forced #bossbabe Emmie to build some pretty solid walls up to protect herself. And no one is worse than the totally rude, annoying and gorgeous man across the hall, Tate Rasmussen. When an at work accident throws them together Emmie finds she isn't the only one hiding behind the guise of professionalism. Maybe Tate isn't so bad afterall.
Great debut novel by Sarah Smith. Reminded me of The Hating Game.
I was so excited to read this book because it is an own voices book written by a biracial Filipino American woman. As some of you may know, I too am a biracial Filipino American woman. I knew I had to read this book because representation matters!
All in all, I found this to be a cute romance.

Emmie is used to faking it, putting on her boss face everyday at her male dominated workplace and trying to ignore her obnoxious coworker Tate who seems to hate her almost as much as she hates him. Except maybe they don't hate each other at all? Especially when a concussion lands her in the hospital & it turns out Tate is much sweeter than she ever realized. The shift from enemies to lovers was a bit abrupt, but overall a cute romance.

So much to do, but technically finishing two of these books is one the list so I'm still going to count this as productive
The easy comparison to make with this one is to The Hating Game, and I have to admit, this one falls flat in comparison. The switch from enemies to lovers happens kind of abruptly but I did enjoy Emmie and Tate‘s chemistry. It definitely grew on me over time but it took well over a quarter of the book to get me there. Worth a read if you want something quick and mostly fun when it‘s out in October but maybe borrow, not buy. Thanks to #netgalley!
