Four out of 5 stars. Great book to read on the ✈️ plane.
Off to a good start for the #ISpyBingoMarch I might have cheated by using different editions, but I thought it would be ok. I read this edition shown. This book was so intense and awesome. Loved it better than the 1st one. #SeriesLove24 and was good for #ReadAway2024

Surprisingly much better than the first book which I did not like. This time Reacher gets taken hostage by mistake
This was a good installment in Child's Jack Reacher series. It involves a Montana militia terrorist group and is probably more realistic than I am comfortable with. Badass female protagonist in this one, too, and some of it is from her viewpoint.
I laughed so hard at this spot-on description of a cheap government building "boardroom." Reminded me of a public university leased building I worked in that seriously still had knobs in the offices labeled "Muzak." Why remodel if the building isn't actually falling down? ?
Although I felt it was a bit long, this is still a solid pick for me. I found it intriguing and probably not so far fetched as one might think. Reacher does what Reacher does. He solves the problem, kisses the girl, and leaves. Fun reading. This was my May #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
Reacher sure does have a knack for being in the wrong place at the worst time. Though I wasn't nearly as invested in this plot, and my mind wandered enough along the way that the "reveal" was less impactful. Tell me I'm not the only one who occasionally gets to a "XXX is the mole!" moment and thinks "wait, who?" ?
Here's hoping the next one picks back up for me!
I‘m back to Lee Child again! I‘m finding the Jack Reacher books kind of fun reads. This book, Die Trying, is my second book. I‘m actually surprising myself by reading a series book. That is so not like me. 😃
Finished this yesterday. Meh. A bit too long and run-on descriptions in some places that could have been condensed. I'm uncertain whether I'll continue reading the series.
I'm about one-third of the way through this. So far, it's okay, but nothing to write home about. At 551 pages, it could have been edited down some and made more efficient and effective.
Okay! This weeks #BFCr4 update!
Books read this week: 3 so I‘m on target for the 12!
Fitness: OMFG scar massage. I‘ve done it, I‘ve sworn a lot, the scar is less horrible than it was so 🤞🏻. I‘ve done the movement exercises and am thrilled that at the start of the week I couldn‘t hold a bread knife but now I can. Still with a lot of pain but I CAN! I managed walking twice but am claiming a weather foul, it‘s rained & I can‘t risk falls ⬇️
Okay, I‘m updating my #BFCr4 goals. Light-ish though the others were, I couldn‘t manage daily walks in Singapore, the heat made the swelling in my arm just too extreme BUUUT I‘ve now got hideously painful OT to do so... yay? #BFC
On last weeks goals; I read three books which puts me well on track for that at least but I only walked twice in a row and ... yeah... NOT HAPPENING AGAIN. I did however manage to take all my vitamins so 👍🏻👍🏻
This is the second book of the Jack Reacher series, it‘s fast paced and full of action. Really enjoyed it, I thought it was a big improvement on the first.
Have decided to read all the Jack Reacher books from the beginning...am only a few chapters in but this already feels better than the first..
I love the Jack Reacher books. These books are pure fantasy, suspend belief and go for a ride.
An engaging read. Exciting from start to end. Love it. Improved from the 1st book.
I never thought bullet time in a book could be captivating. I was wrong. Lee Child makes The Matrix bullet time scenes look like Sesame Street.
For a man who fears so little, Child reveals for the 1st time Jack's deepest fear.
It took him nearly 2 books to reveal the haunting dread that Reacher has of dark, enclosed spaces.
Jack Reacher #2 and suddenly we‘re in third person narrative????? What the heck????
Second of his Reacher thrillers and a big improvement on the first, mainly because the switch to third-person narration allows for a touch more description and sentences longer than five words. Has a great female character too who is almost Reacher's equal in resourcefulness and bad-assery. I raced through it with great glee.
The second Jack Reacher book was not as good as the first, but I still enjoyed it! I was listening to this on a playaway from the library and I feel like I lose track of the story at times when I listen to books instead of reading them. However, I feel like this was action packed just like the first one.
Not as good as the first book in the series for me, but I'm going to stick with Jack. So far these books seem well researched and the plots are at least superficially realistic.
Will take a little break to catch up with #HPChapterADay and read some other things on my tbr list.
Last leg of the flight home and I don't think this book title conveys how I hope the afternoon goes!
When I started this book, I was just looking forward to the next Reacher, but damn it was relevant to things going on today. Definitely give it a read. (And any Marvel/Agents of SHIELD fans, Coulson could have totally been Reacher if he hadn't been snatched up by Fury after the rangers.)
Great action packed and fast paced novel that had me racing through it. Nothing groundbreaking here but just solidly written and consistently good story telling. Jack Reacher never fails me! You know what you are going to get with these novels and that is just fine with me.😋
I just love serendipitous reading choices. I picked up this book from my the shelf after it had been sitting there for over a year. I knew very little about the plot and now I find a major part of the story revolves around Independence Day. Ha! It was meant to be that I read this book now!
My weird reading mood continues. I am definitely requiring fast paced plot driven books, so I figure Jack Reacher can't fail me, right? I am digging me some genre right now.
Jack Reacher #2. I listened to this one on audio and I'm still debating which form I prefer for this series. The law enforcement guys drove me crazy with some of their assumptions early on in the book. Overall, I liked this better than the first one but still only gave it 3 stars.
I've got lots of catching up to do with the Jack Reacher series...only on #2. LOVE this character!!!
