Any other Shaun Tan fans here? I‘m packing up books because we have dry wall repair/painting in several rooms-mainly the rooms w/the books. Before I pack away these I had to look at some of them again. 🙂📚❤️

IndoorDame I read my first few Shaun Tan books recently and I‘m a huge fan! 9mo

My friend Jen recently posted a photo of her new dress (she hopes the worst thing people say about her is that she has too many dresses with watermelons on them) and I thought Littens might like to see her Shaun Tan-inspired tattoos.

julesG Like both, tattoos and dress. 5y
twohectobooks Agh I love that dress!! 5y

#TimbitTunes Day 8: #TheSuburbs reminded of Shaun Tan. There are 15 stories in this collection, ranging from the movingly haunting to the outrightly disturbing; some have sociopolitical issues embedded in the narrative notwithstanding its surreal elements – all ingeniously crafted, skillfully woven, splashed with just the right amount of mystery, the remarkable oddity that‘s calculated yet moving in free verse. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-1x6

Cinfhen Another amazing choice!!!!! How many books have you read & reviewed???? Easily over 1000 by my estimation!!!!! 6y
Kalalalatja Good pick! I love Tan‘s work 🙌 6y
GatheringBooks @Cinfhen hahahhaha!! 🤣😂 we have been book blogging since 2010. so that gives us around 9 year database of materials to select from. and we post every day since around 2012. :) 6y

GatheringBooks @Kalalalatja likewise! i have his newest one but since we are doing a #womenreadwomen2019 theme, i will only be able to read it in 2020. 🤣🧚🏼‍♀️📚💕😂 6y
TheKidUpstairs Sounds super interesting. I'll have to check out his work! 6y
GatheringBooks @Cinfhen and @Kalalalatja fun fact: Shaun Tan sent me the full page spreads of Distant Rain via email when I informed him that I was reading it aloud for a keynote conference in Penang, his father‘s hometown. He felt that having the actual full page spreads of the poem rather than photographs of the book would be better. He has the most generous soul. @TheKidUpstairs (edited) 6y

#FallIntoReading Day 26: Hands down one of my #FavAuthor(s) is the unparalleled Shaun Tan. I had the privilege of interviewing him a few years back whereby I asked him what his red tree was and his position on the place of the odd, the surreal, the strange, the complex, and the weird in picture books for children. His answers are fascinating. One of the proudest moments of our website. Here‘s the link: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5Jr

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks That‘s awesome!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 6y
mreads I want the thing he's holding in the left picture so bad! 😁 6y
vkois88 That's so neat... and the pic on the left has me cracking up! 😂😂 6y

A great collection of very short stories with incredible illustrations. Some of the stories seemed a bit deep for juvenile/YA readers but those are something for them to grow into and for adults to enjoy!
I've read a few of Tan's children's books to my daughter and have now added several more to our TBR after the lasting impression this book left on me.

This is a YA book of short stories but I think it's pretty appealing to 31 year olds, too. Excellent writing and awesome illustrations/design layouts.

LauraBrook Shaun Tan is amazing. 7y
kyraleseberg @LauraBrook I agree! I've read a few of his children's books before and just added a bunch to my TBR after finishing this. 7y

I love Shaun Tan. Simple as that. And I really need more of his books in my life. This awesome, little book contains weird stories, illustrations, that are to die for, and potential to be read again and again. I am so glad this is in my life ❤❤❤❤

Zelma I haven't read this one yet but I absolutely loved The Arrival! 8y
saresmoore Yes, please! 8y
Kalalalatja @Zelma I liked The Arrival better, but this book was still a great read! 8y

So, so good...short stories with gorgeous graphics. Loved every minute of it!! Everything about this book is exquisite-end pages, dedication, acknowledgements...cover to cover brilliance!

JanuarieTimewalker13 I took this out of the library, but if you are a book collector, I would highly recommend purchasing this because it's truly gorgeous. 8y

An odd, beautiful graphic novel. Definitely worth the read, if only for the gorgeously draw poem about poetry.

Thanks to @angrylilasian for reminding me of my undying love for Shaun Tan. 💝💝💝💝💝 I love every little odd scrap that comes out of his mind. Seriously. I have yet to encounter a book of his that I didn't like and wish I had millions of dollars just to buy all his artwork. #australianauthors #FeistyFeb
