This is book 3 in the Iron Druid Chronicles. Another fast paced adventure. So much happened in a short space of time it makes me wonder how Atticus has survived this long. Learned a lot about Lief in this and, as with the first 2 books, there were funny moments. 4⭐️

HAMMERED is the 3rd book in the urban fantasy series, The Iron Druid Chronicles and the best so far (in my opinion).
Thor, the Norse god of thunder, is worse than a blowhard and a bully—he‘s ruined countless lives and killed scores of innocents. After centuries, Viking vampire Leif Helgarson is ready to get his vengeance, and he‘s asked his friend Atticus O‘Sullivan, the last of the Druids, to help take down this Norse nightmare.

Cortg This is my husband's favorite series. I'm thinking about diving into it this summer! 4y
suvata @Cortg It‘s such a fun series. Go for it. 4y
LauraBrook I‘m halfway through this series and they‘re a lot of fun. Glad to see some more fans! 4y
suvata @LauraBrook I am recommending it to everyone I know, even people who don‘t like fantasy. 4y

#OutlandishGiveaway | May 5: Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ

So I don‘t know if any other book that uses this expression, but I think Jesus being talked into doing a whiskey shot by a 2000-year-old Irish Druid fits under “Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ!”

Maria514626 That excerpt is beautiful! 😆 7y
wanderinglynn @Maria514626 Right?! Because who wouldn‘t want to do shots with a black hippie Jesus?! 😉 7y
Maria514626 @wanderinglynn That‘s the exact type of with-the-people Jesus I like. Oh, but so many people would those their minds with this version! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️😆😆 Is the rest of the book this odd/clever/funny? (edited) 7y

First off I would like to thank @theresidentromantic for pointing me towards the audio versions of these books. Great narrator. I mostly really enjoyed this book (especially the stories around the campfire part) and would have had no problem making it a pick but there was just one element that was so off putting to me that I honestly almost stopped listening and I don‘t know if I will continue with the series.

theresidentromantic I'm glad you at least enjoyed Luke Daniels! He's a pretty sounding man. I'm dying of suspense though, what don't you like? 7y
Jas16 @theresidentromantic I really hated it when Atticus offered up Freya to the Frost Giants as part of the spoils of war and Atticus even made note of their arousal at the idea. 7y

Absolute perfection as usual from Hearne. I laughed, I cried, I learned something so a good time was had by all. Plus, Atticus is totally eternal book boyfriend material. He‘s certainly my favorite Druid. If you like druids, vampires, werewolves, witches, sarcasm, and all around fuck yeah epic awesomeness...this series is it! Read it.

This is the third part of the series and while I loved the first two parts, this just felt partly boring, the story was dragging on very slowly. I just hope the next part will be better but it will only be available at my local library in May😑

2017 #2 Urban Fantasy eBook I have to be honest add say this took me two weeks to read. I just couldn't get into the story, the why, the what's the point. I get that it's a moving the story line from a to b but I liked a and I'm already kind of annoyed he's moving to b. The writing is good, the characters are great. I just kind of liked where they were and what they were doing.

Mehso-so

This book had a bit of a "hurry up and wait" feel to it. While it was nice to see the douche (author's choice of description) Thor get his comeuppance finally, there was a lot of background informational exchange before things came due. Necessary apparently for the action but in an audiobook I kind of just wanted them to get to the point. Not my favorite so far but we'll see what the next one brings.

"Normally I laugh at such things, because there is nothing like a fart to lighten up a tense situation."

Just had someone at work ask if I was okay and if I was crying. I was listening to the book and it got to the part where they walked in on the frost giants...and picturing the party all trying to sing it's a small world had me laughing so hard I was crying.

There is nothing not to love about this series. Laugh out loud at times, there is such good natured mythological hopping about that you just want to hug Atticus and give Oberon a sausage or five..

I finally caved and bought a few more books in the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearn. It's fun and light and actiony and I'd probably recommend it, but as someone who lived in Phoenix for 10 years my FAVORITE thing about them is all the Scottsdale shade.

So good! I love the humour in these and the audio narrator does such a good job.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I know it's silly, but I'm so glad you are enjoying these as much as I did. I love authors who play with multiple mythological pantheons and religious deities. 8y
Sue @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Thanks!! High fantasy is not my thing. I cut my fantasy teeth on Terry Pratchett, so this is totally in my wheelhouse. 😊 8y
