Doctor Who: The Legends of River Song | 
pickThis is 5 short stories set in the world of Dr. Who with River Song. (I absolutely love Alex Kingston in this role btw.) Overall I enjoyed this a lot. However, one of them almost immediately felt like it was written by a man. Spoiler alert, it was. Which was unfortunate because it was a great premise. It was still a fun book though.
Getting a flat tire yesterday, at an inconvenient time, means new tires today. It hurts the wallet, but at least it is doable. I'm aware that not everyone has that privilege. And it does give me some reading time.
pickOverall, a good collection. However, one author clearly does not knit or crochet, because at one point the story « Death in New Venice » refers to a « crochet needle » (it‘s a crochet HOOK, and it would not make a good stabbing implement). And of course this is the one thing I trip up on in a sci-fi story ?
Had the DW Christmas marathon on all day but Husbands of River Song was the only one I got to watch in its entirety. #merryreaders #wintergames
Happy DrWhosday! I didn't want to start another book with The Monster Baru Coromant about to come out, but I needed something to read on a plane so I decided to start this short story collection knowing I could stop midway through. So far it's just okay. Some things translate well from screen to page, but Alex Kingston's performance (and glorious hair) doesn't appear to be one of them.
Picked up this Kindle book because I love River Song!

River Song is my favourite Doctor Who character, and I really wanted this to be better.
Um, no. Once the Doctor deletes himself from everybody's memories of the timeline, they let River go. Can't keep her incarcerated for killing someone who's never existed.
Wut? Are you kidding me? And on the next page she thinks she should have a child now because she isn't getting any younger. There are so many things wrong with this! Where is the real River Song? What was this author smoking?

The best romantic pairing on Doctor Who is the Eleventh Doctor and River Song (sorry Rose Tyler fans). While River's introduction came in a Tenth Doctor story and her final (?) appearance was with the Twelfth, River's best moments were alongside Matt Smith. Their chemistry was off the charts, and for the first time since Romana it felt like the Doctor had a partner who was not only his equal but his better half.
Picture for attention - does anyone else get unreasonably angry (or sad) over spoilers? I mean, I don't get upset if the book is decades old or something, but come on - if a book just came out this last year, I should be able to scroll through #bookstagram without having huge plot points spoiled. 😞

It's Dr Whosday and I'm currently listening to the second series of The Diary of River Song which features the Sixth and Seventh Doctors! I love that the Seventh Doctor, upon learning River is an archeologist, mentioned his *other* archeologist friend (Benny) since it's widely presumed that Professor Song was based at least in part on Professor Bernice Summerfield. Still three episodes to go, but so far I'm really enjoying this box set!

pickWhen I purchased this, I didn't realize it was a collection of short stories. All are written by authors who have experience writing in the Doctor Who world. The first story was the weakest, mainly because it felt more like a children's story than anything else.
If you are a fan of Doctor Who, and especially River, you will enjoy this book. A quick and easy read, it is fun to see what River does when she is not running around with the Doctor.
After posting about River Song last week, I started listening to the first series of Big Finish's Diary Of River Song audio play. I'm one episode in, and it's very fun. Nice to see River going solo, although the Doctor will be making an appearance in the finale.
Oh River Song, how I adore you. Easily my favourite New Who creation, River is the only person who can keep up with the 2,000 year old Time Lord. And while we likely saw her last on-screen appearance this past Christmas, the folks at Big Finish are now producing River audio adventures! 👠💄📘🚀🎶=💁
pickI adored this book of 5 short stories. They read as journal entries in River Song's diary. Although written by 5 different authors, I could easily hear River's voice clearly in the writing. All in all, a quick, delightful read for Doctor Who fans.

It came today!! Now I need to finish up the book I'm reading. This Whovian is SO excited!
