It may be a children‘s book, but been left an empty shell by this hard-hitting book. 😢 So many sad moments in this book. Man‘s inhumanity to man 😢 This book needs to be read by everyone. When will we truly learn from the tragic mistakes of the past. 😢 Certainly puts into context what we are going through at the current time with Covid. READ THIS BOOK.
#Scarathlon2020 Earned me a lot of points but too emotional to calculate at the moment.
This book I read in one sitting and then sobbed. #brothers #magicalMay @Eggs
This book is OK, not my favorite. Its super interesting but it doesn't really end well, kinda leaves you hanging, it's probably a bit more like real life in that way. Anyhow, why would they make Tommo have to live with being in love with his brothers wife? That's just weird. Then you almost feel happy when his brother dies so that maybe Tommo can marry her now. But hey..
Told in the voice of Private Tommo #Peaceful, this story follows twenty-four hours at the front, and captures his memories of his family and his village life – by no means as tranquil as it appeared.

Wow! I have never read any of Michael Morpurgo's books, and i am so glad i started with this one. This book is so powerful! It is well written and tells the honest truth of the men who fought in the wars. It highlights the strength of brotherly love as brothers and conrades. Even though it is a story about ww1 it is still unique.
If tou do read this book, make sure tou have tissues ready. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I‘ve seen the larks over no-mans-land. I always found hope in that. — Michael Morpurgo, Private Peaceful
I love Michael Morpurgo and this is my absolute favourite of his. I can't say anything to do it justice other than that I think everyone should read it (but make sure you have tissues handy!)
This book has just made my eyes well up with tears. I can't even remember the last book that did that. I don't do that often, but THIS BOOK YOU GUYS! It's a really short book, but boy is it powerful. I've always been looking for a book about WWI and life on the front lines, and I just found it 💓 And it is so poignant. READ THIS, ALL OF YOU. It's literally less than 200 pages.

Another masterpiece from Michael Morpurgo
"Being his real brother, I could feel I live in his shadow, but I never have and I do not now. I live in his glow."

I've wanted to read this for ages and my son is studying it at school so I thought it was the perfect time #UKYANov
English 101: In what way does Morpurgo use the description of the birds to symbolise Tommo's own guilt and grief for his father's death? Explore using key quotes #teaching #privatepeaceful #readingassessment #language
A slow unfurling of story that is artfully done. When you reach the end, everything unravels- both the characters and yourself. Perfect book to get reluctant young readers reading
