This charming love story is full of wonder, but, despite its tree-leaping protagonist, does not climb to the heights that Calvino can summit. A picaresque tale of a boy who rebels against his family by vowing (and succeeding) never to set foot on ground again, it‘s quick and enjoyable but lacks the thematic coherence of Cosmicomics or Invisible Cities. Thus, unlike Cosimo, you might be able to drop from the trees and pick another leaf.
My first Calvino but I love unique, innovative work and I think this is going to be right up my alley. 🌳
Unico e travolgente!
Janie approves of my free book from the library discard pile. Looking forward to reading more Calvino.
Rambling fairy tale interlaced with incisive political and social commentary. At times interesting, cute, and deep. I am glad I read this since it is unlike anything I‘ve ever read, but I didn‘t love it. It was slow at times and I sort of lost interest and then came right back. I would like to read something else by Calvino. Probably Invisible cities, which I‘ve heard is good.

Am I the only one who thinks that the TBR booktower on her night table is never too tall enough? #booktower #tbr #Italianbooks
Two of my favourite classics. Tolkien was love at first reading, while that particular book by Calvino took a second reading to appreciate fully. 📚❤️❤️

I think whoever has been picking the books for @RoscoeBooks classics bookclub has been doing an amazing job. Oh, what's that noise? Is that the sound of someone tooting their own horn?🎺🎷📯
Looking forward to talking about this gem at tonight's @RoscoeBooks Classics in Brief Book Club.
That's The Baron. Really enjoying this one so far. And I think I'll actually finish in time for @RoscoeBooks Classics in Brief Book Club on Tuesday.
Guess who's starting the book for the @RoscoeBooks classics bookclub more than two days before we meet! I'm growing.
