Such an intense book. The graphic psychological nature of this book was exhaustive but I powered through and really enjoyed reading it. Joona Linna is a gritty character. 4⭐️

Did not see that one coming!! I thought I was clever and figured it out. I was waaaay off. I really enjoyed this one and will definitely be reading the rest of the series. I‘m reading out of order 🤦🏻‍♀️ —but if you do decide to start this series, I highly recommend Sandman!

Lars Kepler is easily becoming one of my favorite authors. The husband-wife duo really knows how to make your heart beat faster as you wonder how Joona and the rest of the team are going to figure it all out. Lazy Sunday morning because this time change messes me up every time.

tracey38 Me, too! I wish they'd pick one time and stick to it instead of doing these time changes! They always mess with me! 4y

Overall these are enjoyable books, but really could be so much better if they were not so long! Fooled me until close to the end about who the stalker was, but so obvious as you stop to think about it. Be aware if you read these you need to be okay with gritty as the murders are quite gritty, even worse that you see it from the victim‘s perspective. Very different sides to Joona in this one and how far he will go to expose a murderer. #NordicNour

EadieB @Andrew65 Nice review! And now you are almost caught up! Just one more to go! 5y
gradcat I got tired of these books after the third one, and as you say, they‘re pretty gory. Great review, though... I agree with everything you wrote. ♥️ 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Now read 4 Camilla Lackberg‘s, 5 Joona Linda‘s and just started book 2 of Department Q. Hope to catch up on a Joona Linna and the Lackberg books over the next month. 5y

gradcat @Andrew65 I think I‘ve lost touch with the #NordicNoir group, but I didn‘t mean to do that. I think I‘d just already read so many of them that I didn‘t have any new ones to read. Oh, well, maybe I‘ll find something in the next group of authors. ♥️ 5y
Andrew65 @gradcat I‘ve simply fallen behind everyone else. Been a difficult year. 😫 5y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 you're doing fabulous, I might get done by the end of the year 5y

I really love this series. Joona Linna is a wonderfully written flawed hero, and that really came to light in this book. I've decided to ignore the zillion unread books I already own and buy book 6 in the series (book 7 comes out at the end of the year!)

5th book of Joona Linna series. Joona Linna is back again working with his son, George, after he was presumed dead from a suicidal drowning. DS Margo Silverman is the lead investigator of a woman found murdered from a serial killer known as a Stalker. Erik, the hypnotist is back again. I was surprised in the end to find out who the murderer was. These books are still too long and have sexual parts that could be cut without harming the story.

Andrew65 I‘ve read the first 2 only. Plenty of catching up to do. 5y

Marina_h I don't recall anything about a son?? There was a George but he was the son of Olle, another policeman 5y

Marina_h Long.... once again I think there were too many side stories. I liked the main story with the stalking, but there were too many parts I didn't enjoy like when Adam went to the swinger club and had sex with one if them or the really long part where Joona and Erik went to look for the priest (I've forgotten his name) 5y
EadieB I agree these books are way too long and that the sex parts could have been left out. 5y
Tove_Reads The length doesn‘t bother me anymore. I read these books quite fast. Jussi‘s books should be shorter. I‘m really getting to like this series, even though it‘s gritty. It‘s quite rare to have the protagonist with so many problems and hardships in life. He never seems to get a break. 5y

Marina_h I could really have done without that part. I think they spent way too much time describing that part and I didn't feel like it added anything at all. It just felt like the authors have a need to add as much darkness and gory to the story, but it feels unnecessary 5y
EadieB I agree that the sick sex part that added absolutely nothing and could have been left out. (edited) 5y

Oh wow! So brutal, dark, and good! Did not see this coming at all. Read it in two sittings. Now I‘m speechless. Someone is stalking and filming women, sending the films to the police, and killing these women. Erik Bark is back, but Joona is missing, presumed dead. Many surprises, did not see most of these things coming 😱 I also want to read the next one now! Warning: sexual content, really dirty. Otherwise, Highly recommended! #NordicNoir

Marina_h Nice review and good to hear the series keep getting better. What is the schedule for May? I've somehow completely forgotten when we discuss the three series 5y

FABULOUS! I've read alot of crime and psychological thrillers and this is probably the best yet. I actually hadn't realised it is part of a series, it definitely stands alone well. Nevertheless I've now ordered it's shelf companions, which I cannot wait to delve into! Twists which made me gasp out loud, very cleverly written intertwining plot threads and totally believably characters. Best of the year so far 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

I was a creeper on the bus this morning and got so excited when I saw the dude next to me was scrolling through the local library app on his phone! I wasn't slick enough to take a picture, so let this poor-quality image from Google serve as a dramatic reenactment. I wish it was socially acceptable to ask people what they're reading (or I guess planning to read in this case). "You like books! I like books too! Let's be friends!" Too intense?

drokka When I notice someone trying to figure out what I'm reading I lift the book up so they can read the cover. When it comes to devices though, I reckon there's an ingrained sense of protecting the private(ish). 8y
