Terrifying super soldier experiments and horrible ways of killing scary creatures. This would definitely be a horror movie if it were ever adapted. Really like the characters and I love the emphasis on Talin‘s mom 💖 I don‘t think books focus on badass loving moms enough. Pretty good book, just not my fav from Marie Lu. Excited for pt 2!

I enjoyed this YA fantasy and look forward to reading its sequel. Talin is a refugee forced to flee her home as the Federation destroyed it. She becomes a member of the elite Striker military force in her new homeland of Mara and fights to keep it safe. Red is a prisoner from the Federation who was engineered to be a weapon of war along with “ghosts” (humans turned into monsters similar to zombies). Red and Talin forge a mind bond and become ⬇️

The story revolves around Talin a refugee of Basea which is a nation that was taken over by the federation. The world-building is fantastic. The characters are compelling & well-developed. The story picks you up & doesn't stop.

But like many YA books, some things are a bit too convenient & the story overall is a tad too predictable. This didn't lessen my enjoyment of the story but it does mean I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

Overall, a fast-paced read. I can't wait to get to book 2 to find out what happens next.

And I really hate that I have to be at work today when all I want to do is binge this book. 😫 I keep sneak reading a page or two because I can‘t put it down.

This book made me to feel so much! Characters were really hard to let go and I am sad that I had to do that.

For me this world was extremely scary and I even saw nightmares for this book. But that was what this was all about and I loved the brutality & darkness here.

The plot was action-packed and thrilling, I couldn't have been more intrigued. It was hard to put down this book.

Well Talin is a striker who‘s lost her partner. She wasn‘t born into this, she was a refugee escaping what she now fights. Mutant monsters called ghosts.

Red is a prisoner brought back from the front who Talin saves, because she feels he has a piece of the puzzle, there‘s something s out him, he has a secret & she‘ll get it out of him.

skyhunter is a solid ya fantasy novel, with good plot and action. however, it is slightly predictable and there seems to be no real struggles for the characters. the relationships between talin and her friends are super cute and i really enjoyed reading about their friend group. i enjoyed reading it although a lot of parts didn't feel very fleshed out.

My boss ordered $700 in books to prep for an upcoming festival. Among the booty is this, my first completed book of 2022. As a long-time fan of the author, it‘s no surprise that I enjoyed Skyhunter & have its sequel on my TBR. I expect COVID will squash my chances of meeting Lu, but here‘s to hoping!

Munster cat doesn‘t look impressed, but gosh I liked this book. It‘s fun. It has high stakes. There‘s no instant love, but a slow bond unfolding over time. There‘s loss. There‘s a heck of a lot of good writing. Excited for book number two.

YA, fantastic read with a promise of a sequel. Talin is a warrior, she takes pride in her skill of keeping her refugee nation Mara, safe from the Federation even though Marans believe her to be beneath them. Then she meets another refugee, one with the will to die and power so fearsome the Federation will stop at nothing to get him back, including destroying Talin & her adopted nation of Mara; likeable characters, action packed, imaginative.

Finished this audio yesterday and enjoyed it, making this # 2 of 3 in my #MarvellousMarch readathon goal. While this was another fantasy nation at war, it had more feeling and emotion. Talia is a Striker for the last free land and is now paired with a prisoner from the war front. Is there more to him than what others see?

I‘m not done this book yet. But wooooh - does anyone else do this? You reach an intense moment mid story and you don‘t want your main characters to get hurt yet you want to know what happens, but you can FEEL the tense atmosphere and how scared they are and you just..gah! Just me? Cool cool (40)

Pretty good ya sci-fi. It was well written and the characters were great. It was a little predictable at times and I felt like the romance was very insta-love. Besides that it was pretty good and I enjoyed myself. I gave it a solid 3.5.

This is quite fun...and possibly perfect for anyone who likes to be shown not told when reading/listening to a book. The world or what‘s left of the world in this was interesting and while it is bleak, it still feels like it has potential. I think this book is like little bits of different books or series that's been mashed up and put back together in a way that is unique, and yet, feels sorta similar.

It took me a while to finish Skyhunter because there were times I didn‘t vibe with the writing or felt it to be boring. It‘s a fun story overall though and very creative. I enjoyed the way the Striker‘s communicate with everyone with sign. I enjoyed both territories we seen and the horrors. Overall a good book. Can‘t wait for the sequel.

#102 of 2020. I loved this book! The story drew me in from the very beginning. I love the characters, specifically Red, Jeran and Talin. This is a dystopian that doesn‘t really break a lot of new ground in that regard, but it is a really good story. Probably one of my favorite books this year. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is like a really good, blockbuster popcorn movie; it‘s zips through, but if you think too much on it things don‘t make sense. You wonder how it‘s all so convenient. But I definitely enjoyed it while I was reading it! My heart was zipping along and my elevated heart rate is testament to my enjoyment.

You guys, I absolutely loved this! In fact, I loved SKYHUNTER so much that as soon as I was done with the audiobook, I immediately pre-ordered the physical book.

With elements of sci-fi, fantasy and dystopian, Marie Lu includes a bit of everything with incredible world-building and an action-packed plot. The world-building is slow but purposeful, rich but intricate. Highly recommend this for your next YA sci-fi fantasy!

The temperature has been colder so I finally got to pull out my favorite comforter. It‘s heavy, makes a good sound, and the cover was a birthday present last year. The design is a lot busier and colorful than I normally like but my bedroom is SO plain and boring.
